Senior Integration & Data Architect – Cue Platform
Stibo DX is the company behind Cue, our multimedia enterprise platform used by media organizations around the world to create, manage, and deliver content across digital and print channels.
As Cue evolves from self-hosted and hybrid deployments towards a standardized, cloud-native SaaS platform, the way our platform connects, exchanges data, and governs information is becoming increasingly important. Creating greater consistency across APIs, integrations, events, schemas, and data ownership is therefore one of our key architectural priorities.
As our Senior Integration & Data Architect, you will take ownership of shaping a more unified, governed, and decoupled integration and data architecture across Cue. You will help us tackle fragmentation and inconsistency across the platform and establish clear architectural patterns that enable our product and engineering teams to build and evolve solutions with greater speed and confidence.
This is very much a hands-on architecture role. You will not simply define principles and governance from a distance. You will work directly with teams on real designs, APIs, event contracts, integrations, schemas, and data domains, helping translate architectural direction into solutions that work in practice. You will work with modern architectural approaches and technologies such as API-first design, GraphQL/REST, Kafka, CDC, schema evolution, and multi-tenant SaaS.
You will become part of a small, but senior architecture team with significant autonomy, visibility, and responsibility. Working closely with our Platform Architect, who focuses on runtime, multi-tenancy, and observability, and our Senior Software Architect, who focuses on domain boundaries and solution design, you will have the opportunity to influence how the entire Cue platform develops as we continue our SaaS transformation.
You will report to the Director of Solution Architecture, and you will work within an architecture governance model keeping decisions close to the teams, while applying the right level of architectural guidance based on risk. The role can be based at any of our offices in Aarhus, Copenhagen, Oslo, Málaga, or Hamburg, depending on where you are located.
Key responsibilities
- Define and govern the unified API strategy for CUE (REST and GraphQL), design standards, versioning, deprecation, breaking-change discipline, and consistency across teams.
- Design integration patterns for a modular, microservices-based platform, sync vs async, anti-corruption layers, adapters,
and migration from bespoke customer integrations to standardized platform interfaces; guide teams on when to use events vs APIs and how to avoid tight coupling.
- Own event-driven architecture on Kafka, topic design, event contracts, schema evolution, CDC/streaming, and consistency models (ordering, idempotency, replay).
- Establish data domains and governance, ownership models, schema definition and evolution, metadata, lineage, quality, classification, retention, and compliance readiness.
- Align contracts with domain boundaries, connect bounded contexts, domain events, and service ownership to API, event, and data design, in close collaboration with the Software Architect.
- Enable teams through architecture leadership, produce reference architectures and integration blueprints, shepherd ADRs, review high-risk designs, and coach teams on better patterns without blocking delivery.
- Reduce fragmentation and drive consolidation, identify one-off approaches early and steer teams toward reusable platform standards.
- Partner across architecture and delivery, work with platform, product, and engineering teams to ensure standards are usable, adopted, and durable.
What you will bring
You are someone who naturally takes ownership and looks beyond individual solutions to understand what is best for the platform as a whole. You notice fragmentation, inconsistencies, and emerging risks, and you are proactive in bringing people together to find practical ways forward.
You are comfortable working across engineering, architecture, and product, and you know how to turn complex integration and data topics into clear, pragmatic decisions that teams can actually work with. You build credibility through your expertise, but also through collaboration, listening, and an understanding that strong architecture needs to support delivery rather than slow it down.
You believe in strong standards where they matter, while taking a pragmatic, risk-based approach to governance. You are curious and adaptable, care about quality and maintainability, and are motivated by creating clarity around contracts, data ownership, and architectural boundaries. Ultimately, you enjoy bringing coherence to complex platforms and leaving them in a better architectural state than you found them.
Experience
- 10+ years in software engineering,
integration engineering, data engineering, or architecture, with 5+ years in a senior role focused on integration, APIs, events, and/or data architecture.
- Proven experience designing and governing APIs in large, distributed, multi-team environments.
- Strong experience with REST and GraphQL API design, versioning, and contract-first approaches.
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architecture in production, preferably Kafka.
- Experience with integration patterns: messaging, pub/sub, request/reply, outbox, saga/process manager, and CDC.
- Strong understanding of schema modeling and schema evolution for APIs and events.
- Experience defining data domains, ownership models, and data governance in a product or platform context.
- Ability to connect Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts (bounded contexts, domain events, aggregates) to integration and data design.
- Understanding of AWS, Kubernetes-based platforms, and multi-tenant SaaS implications for data isolation and integration boundaries.
- Security-aware design across APIs and events, authentication, authorization, zero-trust principles.
