iPronics is seeking a Customer Support L2 Testing Engineer to join our Customer Support team in Valencia. You will be the second line of technical support for our optical switching and datacentre networking solutions: reproducing customer issues, supporting deployments, and setting up emulated environments for Proofs of Concept (PoCs). This is a hands-on engineering role that combines laboratory work, technical troubleshooting, and test automation. You will work closely with L1 Support, Product, Engineering, and Applications teams to reproduce reported problems in controlled environments, support root cause analysis, prepare deployments, and build representative setups that let customers and partners evaluate our solutions. The position is suited to an engineer who enjoys working across hardware, software, networking, and photonics, and who can turn a customer problem or technical requirement into a reliable, repeatable test setup and a clear, practical answer. What you will do 1. L2 issue reproduction & troubleshooting
• Take escalated cases from L1 Support and reproduce customer-reported issues in controlled laboratory environments.
• Isolate whether a problem comes from configuration, network, software, hardware, or the optical layer, and document clear reproduction steps.
• Collect logs, telemetry, and test data, and support root cause analysis together with Product and Engineering teams.
• Provide well-structured technical feedback and workarounds, and keep case records accurate and up to date.
• Turn recurring issues into reusable troubleshooting guides and knowledge-base content. 2. Deployments & laboratory environments
• Deploy, configure, and maintain product setups in the laboratory for support, testing, demonstrations, and technical trials.
• Integrate optical, electrical, networking, server,
and software components into complete, working environments.
• Support system bring-up, configuration, connectivity, and end-to-end functional verification.
• Validate deployments with functional, interoperability, and performance tests before they are handed over or reused.
• Maintain clear setup documentation, configuration records, and reusable procedures, and keep laboratory equipment organised and ready for planned activities. 3. PoC emulation setup & technical evaluations
• Set up emulated environments that represent customer and partner networks for Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and technical evaluations.
• Translate technical requirements into practical configurations, test scenarios, and success criteria.
• Run PoC activities with Applications, Product, and Customer Success teams, and report results, risks, and recommended actions clearly.
• Capture validated setups and lessons learned as reusable internal knowledge and documentation. 4. Test automation & continuous improvement
• Develop and maintain scripts and tools that automate configuration, issue reproduction, testing, data collection, and reporting.
• Improve the repeatability, traceability, and efficiency of laboratory, deployment, and support activities.
• Contribute to test infrastructure, diagnostic tooling, and support workflows.
• Promote safe, disciplined, and well-documented laboratory practices. What you bring
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Photonics, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant experience in technical support (L2), test or validation engineering, systems integration, laboratory engineering, telecommunications, or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience reproducing and troubleshooting issues in complex hardware and software environments.
• Programming or scripting experience, preferably with Python, for test automation, data collection, or analysis.
• Ability to troubleshoot across hardware, software, network, and system-level domains and to document findings clearly.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to collaborate across technical teams. Valuable additional experience
• Optical communications, optical switching, photonic integrated circuits, fibre-optic test equipment, or datacentre networking.
• Device management or automation interfaces such as REST APIs, gNMI, OpenConfig, NETCONF/YANG, or related technologies. What we value
• A practical, methodical, and hands-on approach to technical problem solving.
• A customer-focused mindset, with ownership and initiative in a dynamic laboratory and support environment.
• Clear communication and constructive collaboration with colleagues, customers, and partners
What we offer
