About the role

We are looking for a senior Java developer based in Spain to join a managed service team that supports a client's business applications. Part of the estate is built on a Java EE stack (PrimeFaces, Spring, Hibernate) and works closely with IBM i (AS400) databases and processes.

This is a support and maintenance role. You will fix production issues, deliver small enhancements, and work alongside IBM i colleagues where the Java applications and the AS400 meet.

What you will do

- Analyse and resolve L2/L3 incidents and service requests in Java EE applications, within agreed response times.
- Fix defects and deliver small enhancements in JSF/PrimeFaces front ends and Spring/Hibernate back ends.
- Investigate data and integration issues between the Java applications, Oracle and Db2 for i on IBM i.
- Write and tune SQL for Oracle and Db2 for i.
- Build, test and deploy changes through the client's change process.
- Work with IBM i (RPG and Synon) colleagues on issues that cross both platforms.
- Work directly with the client's IT and business users in Spanish, and with the wider team in English.
- Keep runbooks and the knowledge base up to date.

What you will bring

- 7+ years of hands-on Java EE development, with production support experience.
- Strong JSF/PrimeFaces, Spring and Hibernate/JPA skills.
- Good SQL skills, with Oracle and/or Db2 experience.




- Experience deploying and troubleshooting on Java application servers (e.g. WebSphere, Tomcat or JBoss).
- Familiarity with Maven or Gradle and Git.
- Fluent Spanish and English, spoken and written.
- Based in Spain and able to work Spanish business hours, with a share of an on-call rota.

Nice to have

- Experience connecting Java to IBM i (JT400 / IBM Toolbox for Java, JDBC to Db2 for i, calling IBM i programs or stored procedures).
- Ability to read RPG or CL code.
- Experience maintaining older Java versions and frameworks.
- Distribution domain knowledge.
- ITIL practices and ticketing tools such as Jira or ServiceNow.

How the work is organised

- Business hours: Spanish working day (CET).
- On-call: you will join a rota for critical (Sev1) incidents on business-critical services outside business hours, shared with our 24x7 support team. Response is required within 1 hour.
- Team: you will work with IBM i / AS400 Services colleagues in Spain and India, and with the client's IT and business teams.

Sueldo: 2.600,00€-3.300,00€ al mes
