Project description
We are looking for a Hands-on Development Manager to lead an engineering team building software for a integral medical technology company in the dental and orthodontic domain. The team develops high-performance applications for digital treatment planning, 3D visualization and processing of patient data, used by clinicians worldwide. The product runs in a regulated medical device environment, so quality, traceability and engineering discipline are essential.
This role combines technical leadership with people and delivery management. You will spend a significant part of your time writing and reviewing code, making architecture decisions, and leading the team day to day.
Responsibilities
- Lead a cross-functional development team (developers, QA, DevOps) and own technical delivery end to end.
- Write, review and refactor production C++ code; set coding standards and engineering best practices.
- Drive architecture and design decisions, including performance, scalability and maintainability.
- Translate business and clinical requirements into technical solutions together with the client’s product and engineering stakeholders.
- Plan and track work: estimation, sprint planning, risk management and status reporting.
- Ensure compliance with medical device software development processes (IEC 62304, ISO 13485) and quality requirements.
- Mentor engineers, run technical interviews and contribute to team growth.
- Act as the main technical point of contact for the client’s engineering leadership.
Skills
Must have
- 8+ years of professional software development, with strong modern C++ (C++17/20).
- 2+ years leading development teams while staying hands-on.
- Solid experience with software architecture, design patterns and multithreading.
- Experience with performance optimization and profiling.
- Experience with Agile delivery, planning and estimation.
- Strong communication skills and experience working directly with international clients
Nice to have
- Experience with WebAssembly, or a strong C++ background with readiness to ramp up on WASM quickly.
- 3D graphics and geometry processing (OpenGL, Vulkan, VTK, CGAL or similar).
- Experience in medical device or other regulated software development (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA).
- Qt for desktop UI development.
- CI/CD, CMake, unit testing frameworks (GoogleTest or similar).
- Experience in the dental, orthodontic or healthcare imaging domain.
