JUAN DE LA CIERVA 2026 — 3 years of funding

· First PhD defended and passed: 1 January 2024–31 December 2026; planned defences qualify if completed by then.

· Main predoctoral research centre different from UdG.

· No previous JdC, Formación Posdoctoral, JdC-formación or JdC-incorporación award, including renounced awards or posts never taken up.

· Each candidate applies through one centre; one candidate per tutor.

RAMÓN Y CAJAL 2026 — 5 years of funding and an independent research project

· First PhD defended and passed: 1 January 2016–31 December 2024.

· No previous RyC award, even if renounced or never taken up.

· JdC awardees: one effective contract year by 1 June 2027, excluding suspensions, or express renunciation before 26 September 2026.

· Normally 24 postdoctoral months outside UdG,



in stays of at least one uninterrupted month; domestic stays count. The reference date is the first cohort’s incorporation-agreement deadline (not yet fixed), not the application deadline.

· Mobility exemption for a PhD undertaken entirely and awarded at a foreign university, or the disability route.

· After the RyC period, there is the possibility of obtaining a permanent position at UdG through the applicable competitive selection process.

For either programme: applicants to the same call in 2025 need ≥50 points and no exclusion for falsification or similar issues in their own evaluation documents. Submit only one application; applying to both programmes leads to rejection of JdC.

Recognised disability ≥33%: PhD window starts on 1 January 2023 for JdC and 1 January 2013 for RyC; mobility exemptions apply. Statutory interruptions may extend the earliest PhD date. Request an exception review if relevant.

Funding and hosting depend on AEI selection and UdG approval. RyC requires an English CVA (max 4 pages) and research proposal (max 20).
