Engineering Software / Pipe Flow Simulation Reference:

23002 About the company

Our client is an established engineering software business providing specialist simulation technology used by engineers to design, analyse and troubleshoot complex piping and fluid systems. Its pipe flow simulation software supports engineering teams working with liquid, gas and steam systems, helping them understand pressure drop, flow distribution, system behaviour and potentially damaging transient events such as surge and water hammer. The technology is used across technically demanding industries including oil and gas, chemicals, power generation, water, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and other environments where safe and efficient piping system design is critical. Operating as part of a larger international software organisation, the business combines specialist engineering expertise with the infrastructure and investment of an established integral technology company. The opportunity

You know pipe flow simulation, but you don’t want to spend your career sitting behind a screen building models or only being brought into a sales call to run through a demonstration. You want to get closer to customers, understand the piping and fluid-system problems they are trying to solve and become someone engineers trust for technical guidance. As a Solutions Consultant, you’ll combine your mechanical engineering and pipe flow modelling experience with a genuinely customer-facing presales role. You’ll support sales teams and channel partners across EMEA and APAC, helping customers understand how flow simulation software can be applied to real engineering challenges across piping networks, pumping systems and fluid handling applications. With international travel expected to exceed 50%, you’ll spend significant time with customers, seeing how engineering teams design and troubleshoot fluid systems in practice while developing both your technical and commercial experience. Key responsibilities

Lead technical discovery conversations to understand customers’ piping, hydraulic and fluid-system challenges. Recommend appropriate flow simulation approaches based on customer applications and engineering requirements. Deliver tailored software demonstrations to mechanical engineers, piping specialists, plant engineers and technical decision-makers.

Demonstrate applications including pressure drop analysis, pipe flow distribution, pump and system performance, surge and water hammer, and gas or steam flow behaviour. Develop demonstration models, engineering use cases and proof-of-concept scenarios around customer requirements. Support technical proposals, tender responses and engineering questions throughout the sales cycle. Work alongside Sales to translate detailed engineering requirements into clear technical and commercial value. Train channel partners and support joint customer demonstrations and technical presentations. Contribute to webinars, technical events and industry-facing content. Gather customer feedback and communicate technical requirements to Product and Development teams. Develop broader knowledge across the engineering software portfolio to identify opportunities within existing customer accounts. About you

3-5 years’ experience in solution engineering, sales engineering, technical presales or a customer‑facing engineering role involving simulation software. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Practical experience with

pipe flow modelling, hydraulic analysis or piping system simulation . Strong understanding of fluid mechanics and the behaviour of piping and pumping systems. Experience working with flow simulation software within engineering, plant, pipeline or process‑industry environments. Ability to build and interpret engineering models rather than simply demonstrate software functionality. Confident explaining technical concepts to both engineering specialists and non‑technical decision‑makers. Strong consultative skills and the ability to understand the engineering problem behind a customer requirement. Comfortable working independently across multiple opportunities, countries and time zones. Based in Europe or the Middle East with the right to work in your location. Willingness to travel extensively across EMEA and APAC, with travel expected to exceed 50%. Particularly relevant experience

Experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly relevant:

Pressure drop and flow distribution calculations. Pumping system analysis and pump performance. Water hammer, pressure surge or transient analysis. Gas and steam piping system modelling. Pipeline or plant piping design. Hydraulic system design and troubleshooting. Flow assurance or fluid-system engineering. Simulation of operating scenarios involving valves, pumps, pressure, temperature or control conditions. Where you might be coming from

This role could be particularly relevant if you currently work for a specialist engineering software business focused on

pipe flow, hydraulic modelling, fluid systems, CFD or adjacent piping simulation technologies . Relevant environments could include businesses such as

Revalize / PIPE-FLO, Sunrise Systems / PIPENET, FluidFlow, SimScale, Siemens Digital Industries Software, Octave or SLB , as well as other specialist engineering simulation providers. Equally, you may currently be an engineer using these types of tools within an engineering consultancy, EPC, operator or industrial organisation and be looking to move into a more customer‑facing technical role. The important part is that you understand the engineering behind pipe flow modelling and can use that knowledge to help customers solve real fluid-system problems. Why apply?

This role offers a route for an experienced pipe flow simulation engineer to move closer to customers without stepping away from the technical work that makes their background valuable. Rather than simply delivering standard software demonstrations, you will be expected to understand customers’ piping systems, challenge their assumptions and demonstrate how modelling can help them design safer, more reliable and more efficient systems. You’ll gain exposure to engineering applications across different industries and international markets, while developing the commercial and customer‑facing skills required to become a trusted technical advisor. The remote-first working model provides flexibility, while the extensive international travel gives you direct exposure to customers and engineering teams across EMEA and APAC. Benefits include flexible time off, medical, vision and dental insurance, wellbeing support and continued investment in professional development.
