Overview

In this role you define and optimize end-to-end SAR system performance for Earth Observation payloads. You model systems, evaluate image quality, and lead Cal/Val campaigns, collaborating with RF, antenna, payload, and data processing teams on international space programs. You drive architecture trade-offs and support AIT/V&V; to enable mission success. This is a hands-on, leadership-minded role shaping advanced SAR capabilities.

Responsabilidades

- End-to-End Performance Modeling: build and maintain system-level models and simulators to predict SAR performance and allocate requirements
- Image Quality Evaluation & Budgets: monitor instrument-level budgets and assess metrics such as spatial resolution, NESZ, radiometric accuracy, and ambiguity ratios
- System Architecture & Trade-Offs: perform trade-off analyses on orbit parameters, frequency bands, PRF, and antenna configurations
- Calibration & Processing Support: drive SAR processing verification, focusing algorithms, and Cal/Val strategies using in-orbit and ground data
- AIT & V&V; Integration:



define and support Assembly, Integration and Testing and Verifications across lab and environmental campaigns
- Project Milestones & Technical Leadership: produce performance documentation and represent the team in reviews and customer exchanges

Requisitos principales

- 5–10 years in remote-sensing microwave instrument development with a strong SAR focus
- Deep command of SAR principles and radar performance metrics (NESZ, SNR, ambiguity suppression)
- Experience with end-to-end signal processing chains and numerical modeling
- Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for modeling and simulation
- Strong analytical problem-solving and ability to manage multiple projects autonomously
- Excellent English (advanced); Spanish valuable; French or German desirable
- Willingness to travel for test campaigns and reviews
- Experience with ESA development lifecycles and space engineering standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, CCSDS) is desirable
