Overview

Lead the RF system architecture for spaceborne microwave radiometer payloads, guiding from concept to verification and commissioning. You will work within the Microwave Instrument Engineering Team to shape end-to-end instrument design across current and future missions. Expect challenging trade-offs between RF performance, mass, power, and thermal constraints, with close collaboration across ECSS-aligned milestones. This role offers hands-on leadership in modeling, testing, and flight readiness, contributing to impactful Earth Observation capabilities.

Responsabilidades

- Define baseline RF architectures for spaceborne radiometer payloads (L-band to sub-THz) and perform technical trade-offs
- Design and optimize high-sensitivity RF front-ends and calibration subsystems with end-to-end budgets
- Develop high-fidelity EM and circuit simulations (ADS, CST, HFSS) to validate concepts under flight conditions
- Generate and maintain Verification Control Documents (VCD) and lead TRL assessments and ground support equipment specs
- Lead payload AIT,



environmental validation campaigns, and define in-orbit commissioning roadmaps per ECSS standards
- Represent RF engineering in ESA/customer milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB) and drive technical baselines for proposals

Requisitos principales

- Master in Telecommunications Engineering or related field with 5–10 years in remote sensing microwave instrument design for space
- Strong knowledge of passive microwave sensing, brightness/noise temperature theory, calibration topologies, and antenna interfaces
- Proficiency with RF simulation tools: ADS, CST, HFSS
- Proven technical leadership and ability to interface with customers
- Fluent English; Spanish valued; French or German desirable
- Experience with space engineering standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, CCSDS) and RF flight equipment testing
- Requirements management experience (IBM DOORS) and willingness to travel
