Location:
Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain — on-site Opportunity type: Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs business exchange — not salaried employment Duration: 1–6 months, subject to programme approval Financial support: Programme-funded monthly contribution towards living and travel costs; exact amount and payment conditions confirmed by your Erasmus intermediary organisation. About the opportunityMetapilot Academy develops education, technology and community initiatives across AI, neurotechnology, XR and other innovation sectors. Through Barcelona Techies, we connect students, researchers, founders, professors and industry professionals through events, learning opportunities and partnerships. We are looking for an aspiring or early-stage entrepreneur who wants to develop an events, community, education or related business while collaborating with us in Barcelona through Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs. You will gain practical experience in building a technology community, organising events, managing ticketing, developing partnerships and engaging students. In return, you should bring initiative, relevant skills and clear evidence that you can contribute to the agreed activities. This is a two-way entrepreneurial exchange with a jointly agreed learning and collaboration plan. It is not a salaried employee position or a replacement for a regular employee. Participation is subject to programme eligibility, approval of the host–participant match and the required agreements. What we will work on togetherEvents and community development
• Help plan, promote and deliver Barcelona Techies events, workshops, networking sessions and educational activities.
• Research suitable venues, compare availability and costs, and coordinate logistics within approved budgets.
• Identify and invite relevant speakers, including founders, technology professionals, researchers and university professors.
• Create and maintain event pages, ticket categories and registration forms on platforms such as Luma, Meetup and other relevant tools.
• Support ticket sales through community outreach, partnerships, email campaigns and follow-ups.
• Coordinate speaker communications, event schedules, attendee information and reminders.
• Support on-site setup, check-in, speaker coordination and the attendee experience.
• Collect feedback and review attendance, ticket sales, costs and event outcomes. University, student and education engagement
• Build relationships with student societies, university communities, professors and education partners.
• Help involve students in relevant events, workshops and learning opportunities.
• Support enquiries, follow-ups and participant onboarding using approved programme information.
• Explore partnerships and outreach approaches that connect our activities with relevant student and professional audiences. Marketing and content
• Produce event descriptions, speaker announcements, community updates and promotional content.
• Create photographs,
short videos and event recaps.
• Coordinate cross-promotion with speakers, venues and community partners.
• Track which activities generate registrations, attendance and meaningful engagement. Entrepreneurial learning
• Develop your understanding of event budgeting, ticket pricing, audience development and partnership building.
• Test ideas relevant to your own proposed or early-stage business.
• Take part in regular feedback and planning sessions with the host entrepreneur.
• Document your learning, contributions and progress against the agreed exchange plan. The scope, schedule and learning objectives will be agreed before the exchange and must remain consistent with the programme’s entrepreneurial purpose. Programme eligibilityTo be considered, you must:
• Be firmly planning to start your own business, supported by a viable business plan, or have less than three years of entrepreneurial experience when registering for the programme.
• Have permanent residence in an eligible participating country other than Spain, because this opportunity involves a cross-border exchange in Barcelona.
• Demonstrate a genuine entrepreneurial project and explain how the exchange will help you develop it.
• Meet the programme’s application requirements and obtain approval through the relevant intermediary organisation.
• Be willing and able to cover any costs that exceed the programme’s financial contribution. Being a student does not, by itself, establish eligibility: you must also meet the entrepreneurial requirements. Eligibility is based on the programme’s residence rules, not simply on your passport or nationality. Who we are looking forWe are particularly interested in applicants who can demonstrate:
• Hands-on experience organising events, workshops, meetups, student activities or professional communities.
• Practical knowledge of ticketing, registration pages, attendee communications and event logistics.
• The ability to research venues, contact speakers and follow through professionally.
• Experience working with students, universities, professors, founders or technology communities.
• Clear written and spoken English; Spanish or Catalan is an advantage.
• Strong organisation, reliability and confidence communicating with different stakeholders.
• A clear connection between this exchange and their own entrepreneurial ambitions. You do not need to have built a large events business already. However, you must show what you have personally done, what you can contribute and what you want to learn. Financial support and personal expensesEligible participants may receive a monthly Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs contribution towards travel and subsistence costs.
This is programme funding, not a salary paid by Metapilot Academy. The amount, payment schedule and conditions are agreed between you and your intermediary organisation, and funding applies to the approved period spent abroad collaborating with the host. For this opportunity:
• You are responsible for finding, booking and paying for your own accommodation.
• You must budget for food, local transport, travel and other personal expenses.
• You must be able to cover any difference between your presente costs and the programme contribution.
• Metapilot Academy does not provide accommodation or guarantee that the grant will cover the full cost of living in Barcelona.
• Do not assume that funding is approved until you have written confirmation from your intermediary organisation. Visa, immigration and relocationYou are responsible for checking and completing the visa, immigration, residence-registration and insurance arrangements applicable to your circumstances before travelling. Metapilot Academy does not provide visa sponsorship, immigration services or relocation funding under this opportunity. Where appropriate, we can coordinate with the intermediary organisation on host-side documentation required for the approved exchange. Selection by us does not itself grant immigration permission or guarantee programme funding. Location and participationThis exchange takes place on-site in Barcelona. You must be available to participate in the agreed in-person activities and attend the events included in your exchange plan. Some activities may take place in the evening or at weekends. The schedule, responsibilities and learning sessions will be agreed in advance. You will coordinate directly with the host entrepreneur. Spending, venue commitments, contracts and partnership agreements require prior approval.
