My client is a technology company building foundational infrastructure for AI workloads. They operate large-scale, high-load distributed systems designed specifically to support the demands of modern AI products, spanning storage platforms, data infrastructure, and high-performance network solutions across three specialized engineering teams.

We are looking for Senior (and Staff-level) C++ Engineers to join these teams in Amsterdam or Berlin. It is also possible to work remote, provided you already live in the European Economic area.

This is a systems engineering role, not application or product development. The work sits close to the metal, building the infrastructure components that AI systems depend on, where scale, reliability, and performance are non-negotiable. The focus is on engineers who have personally designed and built distributed or storage systems in C++, not just used them.

You will be part of a team building storage systems, data platforms, and distributed infrastructure from the ground up. The work involves writing high-quality, hands-on C++ on Linux, carefully reasoning about system design, and making trade-offs that hold up at scale, from replication and data consistency to fault tolerance, failure recovery, and communication between nodes.





Depending on the team, you may work on distributed storage, database-like systems, or network infrastructure. You will operate autonomously as a senior individual contributor, own complex technical problems end-to-end, and be expected to justify your design decisions clearly.

What we are looking for:

- 7+ years of experience in systems-level software development, with recent, hands-on C++ work (not only architecture or team lead responsibilities)
- Proven experience designing and implementing distributed systems or storage systems in C++, in high-load, large-scale environments (e.g. replication, data placement, consensus, fault tolerance, query execution, or fleet-scale scheduling)
- Strong C++ expertise, specifically C++17 or newer
- Strong proficiency in Linux, as all development and deployment happen in Linux environments
- Background in distributed systems, storage systems, or database internals; experience at large-scale infrastructure or cloud companies is a plus

Nice to have:

- Low-latency systems experience (e.g. trading environments). This is valuable, but it does not replace distributed or storage experience.

Salary: up to €200k +
