Department Description:

Novartis, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, has created a young, multidisciplinary team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers to reimagine the company's financial processes. We are the Barcelona Digital Finance Hub!

We are seeking young talent through an internship (conveni de pràctiques) to join this team of data scientists.

Sales forecasting, resource optimization, causality, costs, demand planning... these are just a few of the problems we are solving using AI and advanced analytics.

What kind of tasks will you perform?

Day-to-day responsibilities of the trainee in this position:





- Support Data Science projects throughout the full lifecycle, including data extraction, cleaning, exploratory data analysis, model development, validation, and communication of results to business stakeholders.
- Contribute to the design and development of Machine Learning solutions, particularly for forecasting and optimization use cases.
- Explore and apply time series analysis and tree-based models to address business problems.
- Develop Python code following best practices and software development standards, using relevant Python libraries and testing frameworks.
- Validate model performance and results to ensure their reliability, accuracy, and alignment with business objectives.
- Participate in daily project check-in meetings with the project lead to review progress, discuss challenges, and coordinate tasks.
- Attend weekly feedback and follow-up meetings with the internship tutor to review progress, identify learning opportunities, and support professional development.

Program Requirements:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Physics, or other quantitative disciplines.
- Strong interest in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, and Advanced Analytics applied to real business problems (e.g., forecasting, optimization, demand planning, cost analysis).
- Python programming skills for data analysis and modeling tasks.
- Knowledge of machine learning and predictive modeling techniques applied to data analysis.




- Fluent English (working language of the team); good level of Spanish.
- Availability to sign an official internship agreement (conveni de pràctiques) for a minimum of 6 months, full-time, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
- Availability to work in a hybrid model, with the possibility of attending in person at the Novartis Barcelona Digital Finance Hub offices.
