Celeres is a high-tech engineering company specialising in the design, integration and operation of complex, mission-critical systems and applications worldwide.
We deliver turnkey projects, engineering services and advanced technological solutions across the Space, Aerospace, Energy, Scientific Facilities and Defence & Security sectors. Our end-to-end approach covers the entire system lifecycle, from initial design and development to validation, maintenance and obsolescence management.
The role:
With extensive experience in the space industry, Celeres develops launch vehicle systems, including the Ariane family, as well as Ground Control & Command systems for launchers and Earth observation satellites, serving both civil and military applications.
We are looking for a Junior Engineer for Ground Segment Development to join our engineering team and contribute to the development of a spacecraft simulator for a new European space mission.
Working alongside experienced simulation engineers, you will participate in the design, implementation and testing of high-fidelity simulation models representing different spacecraft subsystems. You will work with the SIMULUS simulation environment and the ECSS SMP (Simulation Model Portability) standard.
This is an excellent opportunity to strengthen your software engineering skills and gain practical experience in spacecraft simulation, space engineering standards and the technologies behind European space missions.
Here you will find more information about us: https://vimeo.com/451837856
Position activities:
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Simulation Model Development: Develop,
build and debug object-oriented simulation models using C++, following SMP2 / ECSS-E-ST-40-07 standards.
- SIMULUS Integration: Integrate spacecraft subsystem models into the SIMULUS simulation framework and configure simulation components.
- Model Design & Development Tools: Use modelling environments and development tools, such as Universal Modelling Framework (UMF) and Eclipse, to generate code interfaces and configure model parameters.
- Verification & Testing: Develop and execute unit tests and simulation scenarios to validate model behaviour, physical parameters, telemetry/telecommand functionalities and system logic.
Requirements:
Your profile:
- Degree in Computer Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Knowledge of C++ programming (C++11/14/17) and Object-Oriented Design (OOD) principles.
- Good understanding of mathematical and physical fundamentals, particularly classical mechanics, orbital mechanics, system dynamics or electrical/thermal engineering.
- Familiarity with Linux environments, build tools (CMake, Make) and version control systems (Git).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills,
with a systematic approach and attention to detail when debugging code and validating simulation results.
- Ability to work effectively in multicultural, multidisciplinary and international engineering teams.
- High level of English (B2).
Nice to have:
- Experience or academic exposure to MATLAB.
- Familiarity with the ECSS SMP standard (ECSS-E-ST-40-07 / SMP2).
- Knowledge of space simulation frameworks such as SIMULUS, SIMSAT or EuroSim.
- Experience with modelling and development environments such as Universal Modelling Framework (UMF) or Eclipse CDT.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python for test automation and data analysis.
- Basic understanding of satellite subsystems, such as AOCS, EPS, OBDH and TT&C.;
What do we offer?
- Stability: A full-time position with a permanent contract.
- Challenging projects: The opportunity to work on cutting-edge technological projects with international impact.
- Work-life balance: Adaptable working hours and a hybrid working model.
- Professional growth: Access to exclusive discounts on training programmes with UOC and opportunities for continuous learning and development.
- Flexible benefits: A Flexible Compensation Plan tailored to your needs, including Ticket Restaurant and the option to purchase additional holidays.
- Wellbeing & workplace: Modern, well-connected headquarters in Barcelona, with a welcoming working environment and additional office perks.
