About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Especialista en Gestión de Plagas y Control Biológico to join their team in the agriculturally rich region of Mérida, Yucatán . This critical role focuses on developing and implementing sustainable strategies for pest and disease management across various crops, with an emphasis on environmentally friendly methods. The idóneo candidate will possess a strong background in entomology or plant pathology and a passion for reducing reliance on chemical pesticides. You will be instrumental in protecting crop health, ensuring high yields, and promoting ecological balance within the farming ecosystem. This is a hands?on position requiring regular fieldwork and close collaboration with farm managers and agronomists.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute integrated pest management (IPM) programs tailored to specific crops and regional conditions.
Monitor pest populations and disease incidence through regular field scouting and surveys.
Identify beneficial insects and pathogens for use in biological control strategies.
Implement and manage biological control agents and biopesticides effectively.
Advise on cultural practices that contribute to pest and disease suppression.
Evaluate the efficacy of different pest and disease management strategies.
Maintain detailed records of pest/disease outbreaks, control measures, and their outcomes.
Provide training and guidance to farm workers on safe and effective pest management techniques.
Stay updated on the latest research and technological advancements in pest and disease control.




Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and safety standards related to pesticide use and biological control.
Collaborate with research institutions and industry experts to explore innovative solutions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Biology, or a related agricultural science field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in pest and disease management, preferably with a focus on biological control.
Strong knowledge of entomology, plant pathology, and the life cycles of common agricultural pests and diseases.
Experience in developing and implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs.
Familiarity with biological control agents, biopesticides, and organic farming principles.
Excellent observational skills and attention to detail for field assessments.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to pest populations and crop health.
Good communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and training.
Knowledge of the agricultural landscape and common challenges in Yucatán .
Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and conduct extensive fieldwork in and around Mérida .
Certification or licensing related to pesticide application or pest management is a plus.
