- MBR Technology / Wastewater Treatment / Hybrid Working -A leading company in the water treatment and environmental technology sector is currently recruiting a Wastewater Treatment Engineer specialising in Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology.
The role will support the design, development, and optimisation of wastewater treatment solutions, including process engineering, plant design, technical feasibility studies, and system performance optimisation.
The successful candidate will work closely with international engineering teams, external technical partners, and customers. The idóneo candidate should have practical wastewater treatment engineering experience and strong technical knowledge of MBR technology.
Main ResponsibilitiesConduct technical analyses and feasibility studies for industrial and municipal wastewater treatment projectsDesign, size, and optimise Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment plants and systemsPerform process calculations, hydraulic assessments, and technical evaluationsDevelop technical specifications, process flow diagrams (PFDs), and engineering documentationEvaluate wastewater characteristics and treatment requirements to optimise system performanceProvide technical support for MBR system integration, installation, commissioning, and operationTroubleshoot wastewater treatment processes, membrane performance, and system efficiency issuesCoordinate with external engineering consultancies, equipment suppliers, technical partners, and customersIdeal CandidateBachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering,



or a related technical disciplineAt least 3 years' experience in wastewater treatment engineering, process design, or technical project developmentStrong technical knowledge of MBR technology, including biological treatment processes and membrane filtration systemsExperience in wastewater treatment plant design, sizing, process calculations, and technical feasibility assessmentsUnderstanding of BOD, COD, TSS, nitrogen removal, and membrane filtration performanceExperience in technical troubleshooting, process improvement, and wastewater treatment plant performance assessmentFluency in Spanish and English, both spoken and writtenAutoCAD knowledge and Portuguese language skills are advantageousWillingness to travel for site inspections, technical assessments, and project-related activitiesConditionsLocation: Catalonia, SpainWorking Style: hybrid, 3 days a week in office, 2 days working from homeSalary: competitive, depending on experienceJob Type: permanent, full-timeWorking Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00, travel for business needed for up to 50% of working timeStart: ASAP*All applicants for the Wastewater Treatment Engineer position must have the right to work in Spain without any restrictions as the Company is not able to offer visa support.*We regret that we cannot accept applications from Working Holiday, Graduate or Student visa holders.
