Researcher for the implementation of the tasks included in the project titled:

BIODEGRADABLE DELIVERY SYSTEMS FOR PLANT PATHOGENS CONTROL OF HORTICULTURAL CROPS THROUGH BIOACTIVE AGENTS

Requested Profile (specific tasks to be carried out):

- Selection of fungal pathogens and culture conditions.
- Effect and analysis of basic substances (e.g. selection of basic substances and suppliers; screening of basic substances based on experimental inhibition bioassays; composition analysis of the best basic substances).
- Selection and characterization of antagonist microorganisms using molecular biology techniques (e.g. MS, PCR, etc.).
- Screening of microbial antagonists based on competitive bioassays.
- Omics analysis of the best antagonists.
- Biochemical characterization of the best antagonists.
- Extraction of phlorotannins from seaweed and evaluation of pathogen inhibition (e.g.



extract tests against model crop pathogens).
- Larger-scale supply of bioactive agents (e.g., optimization and scale-up of cultures; supply of microbial agents)
- Lab-scale validation of top formulations (e.g., molecular biology tools for microbial release validation, microbiological validation)
- Collaboration in the following activities: i) Dissemination and Communication; ii) Project Data Management iii) Intellectual Property protection and exploitation of results, iv) Coordination and Management, relative to experimental tasks carried out.
- Preparation and drafting reports (e.g. deliverables, milestones, reports), presentations, articles and patents in Spanish or English.
- Representation of the Universidad de León in consortium and external events, implying travel availability.
- Other tasks related to BioBIVE arising during project development.

Requirements

Research Field Biological sciences » Biology Education Level Master Degree or equivalent

Skills/Qualifications

Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and/or Chemistry.

Specific Requirements

- Assessable knowledge in Applied Microbiology (Agricultural Sector)
- Assessable knowledge in Molecular Biology
- Training in Omics methodologies (Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics, etc.) and Bioinformatics will be valued
- Authorship of scientific documents proving training will be valued
