? We’re hiring: Scientist – Surface Chemistry & Biosensing ? Bioherent | Málaga, Spain We’re looking for a hands-on scientist with a background in materials science or chemistry and practical biosensor experience to help develop optical biosensing technologies for in vitro diagnostics. What you’ll do:
• Develop functional materials, surface coatings, and nanostructures for biosensing.
• Optimize surface functionalization and biomolecule immobilization, particularly on silicon substrates.
• Characterize materials and surfaces and investigate their effects on sensor sensitivity, background, stability, and reproducibility.
• Improve consistency between functionalization batches and support the transfer of laboratory methods into scalable processes.
• Work closely with chemists, immunoassay scientists, and engineers, documenting methods and findings clearly. What we’re looking for:
• BSc, MSc, or PhD in Materials Science,



Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in research, R&D;, or applied materials development.
• Strong experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting skills. Experience with silicon-based biosensors or optical and photonic platforms would be particularly valuable. Other relevant expertise includes silanization, bioconjugation, antifouling coatings, nanoparticles, and surface characterization techniques such as XPS, AFM, contact-angle measurements, or electron microscopy. We welcome materials scientists and chemists with biosensor experience who enjoy connecting material design and surface chemistry with practical diagnostic performance.
