NTT DATA is looking for a Senior Business Analyst
- with direct experience of catalog-style products
- marketplaces, registries, repositories, package indexes, model hubs, data catalogs or comparable discovery platforms to work remotely from Europe for a United Nations Agency. You will be responsible for:
• Propose and agree an engagement approach, including interviews, working sessions, and community-facing formats such as challenges, hackathons, curation sprints or design sessions.
• Design and facilitate community engagement activities, convened jointly with UX/UI Designer, to elicit requirements and validate emerging thinking with practitioners who will use the Marketplace, drawing on the Collaboratory's communities of practice.
• Engage internal UN stakeholders and adjacent teams working on related or overlapping needs, identifying dependencies, shared requirements and opportunities for alignment.
• Develop personas covering the range of Marketplace users, including those who consume artifacts, those who contribute them, and those who curate and maintain the catalog.
• Map end-to-end journeys from need through discovery, evaluation and adoption of an artifact.
• Investigate where a curated, domain-specific platform demonstrably outperforms a general-purpose AI assistant and where it does not, and use this to distinguish what the Marketplace must build from what is adequately served elsewhere.
• Analyse comparable discovery and catalog platforms, within and beyond public health, assessing what could be adopted, extended or integrated rather than built.
• Develop costed options covering build, adopt and extend scenarios, including the effort, infrastructure and ongoing maintenance each implies.
• Assess approaches to classifying and describing artifacts of differing types, modelling their relationships to people, communities and initiatives as the basis for a knowledge graph, testing candidate models. benchmarking against comparable discovery and catalog platforms outside the public health domain.
• Define criteria for listing an artifact and the minimum information required for it to be published, including how quality and trust signals are captured and surfaced transparently.
• Define the model for sourcing artifacts into the Marketplace
- establishing the balance between human curation, community contribution and automated or AI-assisted retrieval
- together with the artifact lifecycle governing how artifacts are added, updated, superseded, deprecated and removed, and the roles accountable for each transition and for ongoing curation.
• Translate the agreed model into the data structures and behaviours required for build, working with the development team through implementation. Translate needs into a prioritised, engineering-ready backlog.
• Produce specifications for the UX/UI and development team
- user stories, flows, states and transitions, data requirements, business rules and edge cases,
• Define acceptance criteria for the Marketplace's AI-assisted features, including the non-functional requirements, such as search relevance, latency and reliability. human-in-the-loop review and confidence thresholds governing AI-generated metadata and recommendations.
• Produce low-fidelity wireframes and flow sketches for the principal journeys identified in Output 2, including discovery and search, artifact listing and comparison, artifact detail, and contribution or submission.
• Ensure design work is specified against the Collaboratory design system, and that Marketplace requirements feed into its evolution.
• Own and maintain the backlog operationally
- refining, decomposing, estimating and sequencing items
- while working with the Collaboratory Secretariat and the UN product owners for prioritization.
• Define sprint content and deliverables, run sprint planning, refinement and review, and track progress, dependencies, risks and impediments.
• Work with developers and designers on a day-to-day basis, clarifying requirements, resolving ambiguity as it arises during build, and reviewing increments against acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing and community feedback, establish how discovery quality and AI-assisted feature performance are measured after release, and report delivery status to the UN product owner and wider Collaboratory governance. You need the following
experience:
• First-level university degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Science, Information Systems, Health Informatics or related discipline.
• Professional qualification or foundation certification in business analysis or product methodologies (e.g. IIBA-CCBA/CBAP, PMI-PBA, or a recognised Product Owner certification).
• 10 years in IT and 7 years of progressive professional experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner or Product Manager delivering software products.
• Demonstrated experience on at least one catalog-style product
- a marketplace, registry, repository, package index, model hub, data catalog or comparable discovery platform
- with direct responsibility for how content was classified, described, listed or found.
• Experience running delivery day to day alongside an engineering team, including backlog ownership and sprint definition.
• Experience defining requirements or acceptance criteria for features whose outputs are generated by AI or machine learning models.
• Demonstrated ability to shape catalog-style products
- marketplaces, registries, repositories, package indexes, model hubs or data catalogs
- including how content is classified, described, evaluated and found.
• Experience designing discovery and search experiences, and defining how discovery quality is measured and improved.
• Experience designing content or asset lifecycle and governance models, covering intake, review, publication, deprecation and removal.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM assisted product features, including designing human-in-the-loop review processes, defining confidence thresholds, and defining acceptance criteria for machine-generated outputs
- as distinct from using AI tools for personal productivity.
• Proven ability to run delivery operationally: backlog ownership, sprint definition, day-to-day collaboration with engineering, and steering increments through to release.
• Ability to produce low-fidelity wireframes and interface concepts, and to brief and collaborate effectively with UX/UI designers on the design of a user-facing product.
• Strong facilitation and community engagement skills, including the design and delivery of participatory formats such as workshops, challenges or hackathons to elicit and validate requirements.
• Expertise in business analysis techniques, including user stories, acceptance criteria, personas and journey mapping, entity-relationship and data models, process flows and data dictionaries.
• Comfort with software development lifecycles, Git-based workflows, JIRA/Azure DevOps/Confluence, and technical data concepts (APIs, relational and document database schemas, XML/JSON/CSV formats, package registries and open-source repositories).
• Familiarity with public health, epidemiology, research software ecosystems or open science infrastructure is an advantage.
• Expert knowledge in spoken and written English.
• Desirable: Experience with open-source software ecosystems, package registries, data catalogs, model hubs or scientific software repositories. Prior experience working with UN agencies, academic institutions or public-good digital infrastructure initiatives.
