This is not a conventional senior engineering role.

The opportunity

As one of IN2's first employees in Portugal or Spain, you will have a unique opportunity to establish yourself as a key member of our local operations while working closely with our international engineering and business development teams.

Your responsibilities will combine two important dimensions:

Technical engineering excellence

You will remain actively involved in the design and delivery of Mechanical or Electrical engineering services, contributing to projects undertaken across our international offices.

You will collaborate with experienced engineering teams and contribute to technically challenging projects, particularly across sectors such as Data Centres, Energy, Infrastructure and other specialist developments.

Local market representation and business development

You will also become a key local representative of IN2, helping us strengthen our presence, build relationships and identify new opportunities in the market.

Working closely with our international leadership and business development team, you will participate in client meetings, industry events, networking opportunities and discussions with potential business partners.

You will help build the foundations of our business in your country and contribute to shaping its long-term development.

What you will be doing

- Deliver high-quality Mechanical or Electrical engineering design and technical input on international projects.
- Collaborate with IN2's multidisciplinary engineering teams across different offices.
- Represent IN2 professionally in meetings with clients, consultants, developers and industry partners.
- Support business development activities, including networking, market intelligence, relationship management and opportunity identification.




- Attend relevant industry events, conferences and professional networking activities.
- Develop relationships with local architects, engineering consultants, project managers, developers and potential clients.
- Help establish IN2's credibility and reputation within the local engineering and construction market.
- Provide valuable local insights into industry trends, regulations and emerging commercial opportunities.
- Work closely with international leadership to support our growth strategy.
- Contribute to the future development of our local operations and wider engineering team.

Who we are looking for?

An experienced and respected engineering professional

You are a technically capable Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with substantial experience in engineering consultancy and a strong understanding of the local market.

You have the technical expertise and professional confidence to engage credibly with clients and senior industry stakeholders.

Someone who sees the bigger picture

You understand that successful engineering consultancies are built not only on technical excellence but also on relationships, trust and commercial awareness.

You are comfortable meeting new people, building professional networks and identifying opportunities where your expertise can make a difference.

You don't need to be an experienced salesperson. However, you should enjoy developing relationships and feel motivated by the opportunity to contribute to business growth.

What you will bring





- Significant professional experience in Mechanical or Electrical engineering design within the building services / MEP consultancy sector.
- Strong technical competence and experience delivering complex engineering projects.
- Good understanding of the local engineering, construction and consultancy market.
- Confidence in client-facing situations and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A proactive attitude, commercial awareness and genuine interest in business development.
- High levels of integrity, reliability, accountability and professional judgement.
- Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with international teams.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese (Lisbon) or English and Spanish (Madrid).
- Relevant engineering qualifications, with professional registration or chartership considered an advantage.

Experience in Data Centres, Energy, Infrastructure or other technically demanding sectors would be particularly valuable, although we are equally interested in individuals with strong transferable experience and the ambition to develop within these markets. Why join IN2?
