Shop Levers delivers AI-powered bookkeeping, parts reconciliation, and financial analysis built specifically for auto repair shops. The platform adapts to each shop’s workflows and preferences, learning how financial data should be categorized, which exceptions matter, and what to flag or automate.
Role Description Full-time, remote within Spain. We’re based in Barcelona and meet in person occasionally, so you’ll need to be based in Spain and eligible to work here.
You’ll design, build, and maintain the backend services and integrations behind our bookkeeping and financial analysis platform, working alongside our senior engineer and product manager.
Day-to-day, that means:
Building and maintaining integrations with shop management systems and accounting software (Quick Books), where the data is messy, the APIs are inconsistent, and correctness is non-negotiable
Designing ingestion and transformation pipelines that turn raw repair-order data into the metrics shops actually run their business on
Working across our operational and analytical databases, including query-time aggregation over large volumes of multi-tenant financial data
Building and scaling event-driven services on Google Cloud, with a focus on reliability, idempotency,
and recovering cleanly from failure
Contributing to architecture decisions, reviewing code, and writing the tests that let us ship quickly without breaking shops’ books
We’re a three-person team, so you’ll have real ownership from the start, and your decisions will stick.
We work AI-first: planning with coding agents, delegating implementation, and reviewing rigorously. We’re looking for engineers who work this way.
Our core stack Strong, production-level proficiency in Node.js/Type Script or Python
Strong foundation in data structures and software design
Experience building and maintaining distributed services
Solid database experience across both SQL and NoSQL
Ability to handle general backend tasks, ensuring stability, scalability, and clean code
Comfort with cloud-based environments, containerization, and CI/CD workflows
Independent and self-driven, comfortable in an early-stage startup where priorities shift
Professional working proficiency in English
Advantages ETL and data pipeline experience
Experience with columnar/analytical databases (Click House, Big Query, Snowflake, Redshift)
