About the Role
Our client, a significant industrial enterprise located in Queenstown, Eastern Cape , is seeking an Industrial Engineer with a specialized focus on Ergonomics and Workplace Safety. This role is crucial for ensuring a safe, healthy, and productive working environment by analyzing and improving workplace design, processes, and equipment to minimize physical strain and prevent injuries. The idóneo candidate will possess a strong understanding of human factors engineering, occupational safety principles, and industrial hygiene. You will work closely with safety officers, operations managers, and employees to implement best practices and foster a proactive safety culture. Key Responsibilities
Conduct ergonomic assessments of workstations, tasks, and equipment to identify potential risks and recommend improvements.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce workplace injuries, musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), and fatigue.
Analyze accident and incident data to identify trends and develop preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with national and international health and safety regulations and standards.
Collaborate with safety committees and management to promote a strong safety culture.
Design or recommend modifications to processes, equipment, and environments to enhance ergonomics and safety.
Develop and deliver training programs on ergonomic principles, safe work practices, and hazard recognition.




Participate in safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and non-compliance.
Investigate workplace incidents and near misses, determining root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Stay updated on the latest research and best practices in ergonomics and occupational safety.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a specialization in ergonomics and workplace safety.
Proven experience in conducting ergonomic assessments and implementing risk reduction strategies.
Strong knowledge of occupational safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., OHS Act).
Familiarity with human factors engineering principles and industrial hygiene concepts.
Experience with injury analysis and prevention programs.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and observational skills.
Effective communication and training skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
Certification in relevant safety or ergonomics fields is an advantage (e.g., Certified Professional Ergonomist, CSP).
Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa and reside in or near Queenstown, Eastern Cape .
