About the Role

Our client, a national distributor of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), is seeking an experienced Logistics and Distribution Manager to oversee operations in the Queenstown, Eastern Cape region. This role is responsible for managing the entire logistics network, including warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and order fulfillment, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery to customers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in FMCG logistics, excellent leadership skills, and a proven ability to optimize supply chain operations. This is a key position within the organization, driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the logistics and distribution functions, including warehousing, inventory control, and transportation.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize the supply chain, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Manage and lead the logistics team, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
- Ensure efficient inventory management, including stock levels, cycle counting, and accuracy.
- Coordinate transportation activities, including route planning, carrier selection, and fleet management to ensure timely deliveries.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant health, safety, and transportation regulations.
- Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for logistics operations and implement corrective actions as needed.




- Manage relationships with suppliers, transport providers, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee warehouse operations to ensure safety, security, and operational efficiency.
- Contribute to budget development and management for the logistics department.

Requirements

- A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in logistics and distribution management, with a strong focus on the FMCG sector.
- Proven experience in managing warehousing, inventory, and transportation operations.
- Strong understanding of supply chain principles and best practices.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using WMS, TMS, and ERP systems, as well as MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to warehousing and transportation.
- Must be legally eligible to work in South Africa.
