Our client, a integral innovator in automotive engineering, is seeking a Remote Powertrain Software Engineer to drive the development of advanced powertrain control systems.
This fully remote position, conceptually linked to Queenstown, Eastern Cape, will focus on designing, implementing, and validating software for engine management, transmission control, and hybrid/electric vehicle powertrains.

Key Responsibilities
Develop embedded software for automotive powertrain control units (PCUs), including engine, transmission, and hybrid systems.
Design and implement control algorithms to optimize performance, fuel economy, and emissions.
Create and maintain software requirements, architecture, and design documentation.
Utilize modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink) for algorithm development and validation.
Perform software integration, testing, and debugging on target hardware.
Collaborate with powertrain hardware engineers and system engineers to ensure seamless integration.
Support calibration engineers in tuning powertrain control parameters.




Ensure software compliance with automotive safety standards (e.g., ISO *).
Stay current with emerging powertrain technologies and software development trends.
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in embedded software development, with a strong focus on automotive powertrains.
Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and automotive communication protocols (CAN, UDS).
Strong knowledge of powertrain control strategies and automotive system dynamics.
Experience with AUTOSAR software architecture is highly desirable.
Familiarity with software development tools, including compilers, debuggers, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for remote collaboration.
Ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote environment.
