We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Core Team of a leading European tech company. This central team develops the libraries, internal tools and foundational components used by all product teams. It is a high-impact role with strong autonomy and technical ownership, in a cloud-native, distributed environment.

Responsibilities

- Design and develop reusable backend libraries and shared components.
- Support multiple teams with scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Contribute to the migration from a monolith to a microservices architecture.
- Improve system performance, reliability and observability.
- Drive best practices: clean code, testing and architecture standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a distributed environment.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in backend development.
- Strong experience with Python (FastAPI and/or Django).
- Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs and system design.
- Experience with databases and messaging systems.
- Strong focus on code quality (Clean Code, SOLID, TDD/BDD).
- Comfortable working in agile environments (Scrum / Kanban).
- Proactive mindset, ownership and strong team collaboration skills.
- English C1 (mandatory).
- Hybrid model: 3 days per week in Barcelona.
