About the Role
Our client, a dynamic technology firm focused on developing innovative solutions for the agricultural sector, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Systems Design Engineer for their expanding operations in Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This role is central to designing, developing, and testing new mechanical systems and components that drive efficiency and sustainability in modern farming. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptualization and detailed design using advanced CAD tools to prototyping and field testing. We are looking for an engineer with a strong aptitude for problem-solving, a solid understanding of mechatronics, and a passion for applying engineering principles to real-world challenges. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of agricultural technology.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical systems, sub-systems, and components for agricultural machinery and equipment.
Utilize 3D CAD software to create detailed models, drawings, and assemblies, ensuring adherence to design standards.
Perform engineering analysis, including stress, thermal, and kinematic simulations, to validate designs and predict performance.
Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate mechanical systems with control and electronic components.
Oversee prototyping and testing of mechanical designs, documenting results and identifying areas for improvement.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues encountered during development, manufacturing, and field deployment.
Prepare technical documentation,



including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.
Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure designs are optimized for production processes.
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in mechanical engineering and agricultural technology.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical design and systems engineering.
Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and CAE tools.
Solid understanding of mechatronic principles, kinematics, and control systems.
Experience with agricultural machinery or equipment design is a significant advantage.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly.
Experience with project management tools and methodologies is a plus.
Must be based in or willing to relocate to Queenstown, Eastern Cape , with hybrid work flexibility.
