Moodle is looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team on a 6-month maternity leave cover contract starting in mid-December.
Reporting to the General Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting Moodle's global operations — drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on privacy and IP matters, and helping the business navigate a complex multi-jurisdictional legal landscape.
Reviewing and drafting a broad range of commercial contracts, software licence agreements, NDAs, and website termsAdvising on data privacy obligations with a focus on GDPR, and acting as point of contact for our external DPO on EU time zoneMonitoring contract compliance and maintaining records in the CRM and Google DriveAssisting the General Counsel with ad hoc legal research across multiple jurisdictionsKeeping up with developments in cybersecurity law affecting software development and saleBeing a sounding board for the General Counsel before escalating to external counselMinimum 7 years' experience as a Legal Counsel, with a strong track record in commercial contract managementLegal qualifications obtained in Europe/UK or USA, or equivalent experience gained within the Europe/UK or USA legal systemExperience with Contract Lifecycle Management systemsWe respect our colleagues and value an open and innovative workplace, filled with integrity and of course a strong focus on education (yes, these are our company values)Taking on a genuinely flexible, distributed role, working from anywhere in the worldWorking with a global team on a worldwide platform and make a real difference.
