Senior Data Platform Engineer - Databricks & Azure

About the role

Join Allianz Technology as a Senior Data Platform Engineer and help build and scale the data platforms powering analytics and AI across Allianz Group.

You will work hands-on with Databricks, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, helping our global Operating Entities bring their data workloads onto the Allianz Data Platform and turn platform capabilities into production-ready solutions. This is not a purely advisory role. You will design, configure and implement platform components, build data integrations, solve complex technical challenges and work directly with local technology teams to take solutions from requirements through to production.

What you do

- Design, configure and implement enterprise data platform solutions with Databricks as the core platform, complemented by Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric.
- Build scalable batch and streaming data pipelines connecting local source systems with the Allianz Data Platform.
- Work directly with Operating Entities to understand their challenges and turn requirements into production-ready technical solutions.
- Build secure and reliable platform capabilities with strong access controls, observability and governance.
- Automate deployments through CI/CD and infrastructure as code, making platform rollouts fast, secure and repeatable.
- Extend the platform to enable AI and GenAI use cases,



including solutions built with Azure AI Foundry.
- Create reusable components, reference architectures and engineering standards that can be scaled across Allianz Group.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, risk and data governance teams and share engineering knowledge across the organisation.

What you bring

- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering or cloud data solutions.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks in production environments, ideally including Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure Synapse.
- Strong engineering skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience building and operating data integration pipelines, including ETL/ELT and orchestration.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure and modern cloud data architectures.
- Good understanding of CI/CD, infrastructure as code, security and data governance.
- Ability to work directly with stakeholders, understand their challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions.
- Professional proficiency in English.

Nice to have

- Terraform or Bicep.
- Streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Docker and Kubernetes.
- Azure AI Foundry, MLflow or MLOps.
- Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.




- Relevant Databricks or Microsoft Azure certifications.
