About the role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Product team in Spain and help us build reliable experiences for teachers and students. You’ll also continuously learn by taking on problems of increasing complexity over time, including the possibility of leading projects with technical complexity, product complexity, or both. Technically speaking,
we use React and Redux for our frontend and Node and Express applying DDD and hexagonal architecture in the backend. We use MongoDB for our database and are fully hosted on AWS which we also use to store, encode and stream our own pool of videos. We work with testing , trunk based development , CI/CD , and we follow engineering best practices without compromising on code quality or reliability. We work in cross-functional, rotational teams, fostering close partnerships between Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and other key areas such as Design, Data, QA, and Security. At our core is an environment where every voice is heard and valued, and where each team member plays a role in shaping project strategies, not just execution. We’ve built a culture where ideas are shared openly and assumptions are challenged in service of building better experiences for our users. Browse our library of talks to learn more about the Product team and Engineering culture at Edpuzzle: Work closely with Product and Engineering to understand user needs, explore solutions, and contribute to product and technical discussions with your own perspective. Take ownership of the problems you work on by understanding why they matter to users, doing your own research, proposing solutions, and driving implementation with support from teammates when needed. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teammates to keep projects moving with efficiency and focus, while also delivering the best possible outcome on time.
Continuously learn how different parts of Edpuzzle’s software work, why they were built that way, how they interact, where they can be refined, and how to use the tools available to you to keep growing. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software. You have 3 to 5 years of professional experience in frontend, backend, or full-stack development. ~ You have strong experience building complex interactive UIs in React and developing backend systems in Node.js , ideally in high-traffic environments. ~ If you’re not already full-stack, you’re aiming to get there. ~ You use AI and other modern tools responsibly to support and improve your work, never as a substitute for your own judgment and understanding, while remaining fully accountable for the quality and reasoning behind the final output. ~ You feel comfortable in spoken Spanish and written English, as they are the main language of our engineers’ day-to-day operations. ~ You are based in Spain and have a work permit to work in Spain. ~ Experience with Redux for client state management. ~ js and MongoDB. ~ Experience with complex backend architectures such as Hexagonal Architecture and Domain Driven Design (DDD). ~… Remote-first within Spain, with our Barcelona office to come as much or as little as you'd like 24 days’ paid holidays plus December 24th and 31st Flexible
