About the Role

Our client, a significant industrial manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join their operations team in Queenstown, Eastern Cape. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated control systems that ensure the efficiency, safety, and reliability of their chemical processes. You will work with modern automation technologies, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems, to optimize production and minimize variability. Key Responsibilities

- Design, configure, and commission process control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA).
- Develop and implement advanced process control strategies to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Troubleshoot and maintain instrumentation and control hardware and software.
- Develop P&IDs; and loop diagrams for control systems.
- Collaborate with process engineers and operations teams to define control system requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis for control system failures and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including functional design specifications and alarm management strategies.




- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations related to control systems.
- Provide training and technical support to operations personnel on control systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in industrial automation and control technology.

Requirements

- B.Eng. or B.Sc. in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering within an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with major PLC and DCS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Honeywell).
- Strong understanding of control theory, loop tuning, and process instrumentation.
- Experience with SCADA systems and industrial networking.
- Knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a team.
- Experience working in Queenstown, Eastern Cape or similar industrial settings is beneficial.
