Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, and routine inspections of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform repairs, including fitting, turning, welding, and component replacement.
- Install new machinery and equipment according to specifications and safety standards.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals to guide maintenance and installation activities.




- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues efficiently to minimize production downtime.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific risk assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance performed, parts used, and equipment status.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members, engineers, and production staff.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Requirements

- Proven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Fitter or Fitter and Turner.
- Strong mechanical fitting skills, including knowledge of bearing fitting, shaft alignment, and general machinery repair.
- Proficiency in using machine shop equipment (lathes, milling machines) and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience with welding and fabrication is advantageous.
- Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to fault finding.
- Must be physically fit and capable of performing manual labor in an industrial environment within Queenstown, Eastern Cape.
- A relevant trade qualification (e.g., NQF Level 3/4 Fitter and Turner) is required.
