THE ROLE Our client is looking for a Senior Power System Engineer to lead the delivery of power system studies for UK distribution and transmission-connected projects, including renewable generation, battery storage (BESS), EV charging infrastructure and industrial and commercial connections. You will work fully remotely from Spain as part of the power system studies team, collaborating daily with UK-based colleagues, clients and network operators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical delivery
• Lead and deliver power system studies load flow, fault level (IEC 60909), protection coordination, harmonics (ENA ER G5/5), voltage step change and flicker (ER P28) and dynamic/transient stability for LV, HV and EHV networks up to 132 kV.
• Prepare ENA ER G99 / G98 and Grid Code compliance studies and support DNO and IDNO connection applications for generation, storage and demand projects.
• Undertake feasibility and connection-option studies to identify the most economic and technically robust point of connection for new developments.
• Build, validate and maintain network models in industry-standard software (e.g. DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, IPSA, PSCAD).
• Develop protection settings and relay grading studies in collaboration with the Protection & Control team.
• Carry out arc-flash and equipment-rating assessments and specify switchgear, transformer and cable ratings from study results.
• Provide system-level inputs to the EHV design team,



fault levels, protection requirements, reactive power and voltage control for substation and network designs up to 132 kV.
• Review DNO/IDNO connection offers, network data and data requests, and prepare the technical information required for connection applications. Quality, clients and team
• Author clear, concise technical reports and present findings and recommendations to clients and network operators.
• Attend client meetings, design reviews and technical clarifications with UK network operators and developers.
• Act as technical checker and reviewer for study deliverables issued by the team, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK standards.
• Mentor and support junior and graduate engineers, sharing knowledge of UK network practice and study methodology.
• Coordinate with the EHV design, earthing, civil and project management teams, managing your own workload across concurrent projects to agreed deadlines and budgets.
• Maintain and improve study templates, modelling libraries and quality procedures in line with the company’s accreditation requirements.
• Keep up to date with changes to UK standards, ENA Engineering Recommendations and network operator policies, and cascade them to the team.
