IT/OT Systems Engineer – Europe We’re working with an energy technology company developing large-scale thermal energy storage solutions that are helping industrial businesses decarbonise and move away from fossil fuels. As the company continues to scale its technology across Europe, they’re looking for an IT/OT Systems Engineer to take ownership of the infrastructure connecting their industrial installations, control systems and cloud environment. This is a hands-on engineering role suited to someone who enjoys working across the boundary between traditional IT and operational technology. You’ll work remotely day-to-day, while supporting live industrial projects across Europe and occasionally travelling to site for commissioning. What you’ll be doing:
• Configure and maintain industrial networks, firewalls, switches and associated infrastructure
• Commission and connect OT devices across industrial installations
• Support the infrastructure surrounding SCADA and historian systems
• Configure and maintain Windows/Linux environments and databases
• Troubleshoot connectivity and infrastructure issues remotely and on-site
• Support secure site-to-cloud connectivity and data integration
• Maintain network diagrams, technical documentation and commissioning records
• Implement appropriate IT/OT cybersecurity controls
• Work closely with engineering teams across Europe and the US




• Support new installations as the company continues to deploy its technology internationally What we’re looking for:
• Hands-on experience within industrial IT/OT environments
• Strong industrial networking knowledge, including switches, routers, firewalls, TCP/IP and network segmentation
• Experience with SCADA, ICS or industrial automation environments
• Windows and/or Linux systems administration experience
• Understanding of OT cybersecurity and secure industrial networking
• Experience commissioning or troubleshooting equipment within industrial environments
• Comfortable independently diagnosing infrastructure and connectivity issues
• Strong English communication skills Nice to have:
• Ignition experience
• PostgreSQL or similar database experience
• Azure or AWS exposure
• Experience with industrial historians
• IEC 62443 knowledge
• Experience within energy, power generation, manufacturing or other industrial environments The opportunity: This is an opportunity to join a growing energy technology business at an exciting stage of its European expansion. You’ll have significant ownership of the IT/OT environment supporting real-world industrial installations, while working on technology designed to tackle one of the most challenging areas of industrial decarbonisation. The position is remote-first and can be based across Europe, with occasional travel to project sites for commissioning and an annual visit to the US team.
