Business Development Manager — Genomics & Life Sciences (Western Europe)
Full-Time | Remote, Western Europe | 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM CET | Long-Term Contract | 3 weeks PTO per year
About the Role
Our client is a US-based genetic testing and research company that uses AI to analyze DNA, predict disease risk, and deliver personalized health insights through its software platform. They are expanding into Europe, with Italy, Spain, Germany, and the UK as initial target markets, and are looking for a senior, closing-focused sales professional who can drive new business from day one.
This person will be key to building the company's presence in Europe and turning existing industry relationships into signed contracts. This is not an entry-level or training role.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting and discovery through negotiation and close, for software license contracts
Close high-value B2B deals, typically ranging from $100,000 to $2,000,000
Build and manage a pipeline of qualified prospects across European markets
Use your existing network in the genetic testing, diagnostics, biotech, or life sciences space to open doors and generate early traction
Define and execute a clear go-to-market approach for your target markets, including accounts, segments, and competitive positioning
Run discovery calls and product presentations over video with technical buyers (lab directors, physicians, researchers) and business decision-makers
Negotiate terms and close new customer contracts
Keep leadership informed on pipeline status, deal progress, and market feedback
Work closely with the US leadership team on pricing, positioning, and account strategy
Requirements
Based in Western Europe
Registered as self-employed in your country (e.g., Partita IVA in Italy, autónomo in Spain) or operating through your own company, or willing to set this up before starting. This is a contractor engagement, not an employment contract
4+ years of B2B sales experience with a proven track record of closing deals, not just prospecting or pipeline support
Able to walk through specific deals you have closed, including deal sizes and outcomes
Experience selling into healthcare, diagnostics, genomics, biotech, or life sciences
An established professional network in the European healthcare or life sciences market
Advanced professional English (C1 or above), written and spoken
Able to operate independently and generate results with minimal ramp-up time
Comfortable with a compensation structure of fixed base plus commission (no guaranteed commission)
Stable work history, with an average of 2+ years per role
Nice to have: Scientific background (biology, genetics, biomedical sciences, or similar)
Experience selling software or SaaS solutions
Additional European languages (Italian, German, French, Spanish)
Experience working with US-based companies
Idóneo Candidate
You are a senior seller who already knows the European life sciences landscape and the people in it. You don't need months to study the market: you come in with a point of view on where to go first and how to win there. You are confident, extroverted, and comfortable leading conversations with both scientific and business decision-makers.
You take ownership of your numbers, work well without close supervision, and are motivated by uncapped earning potential tied to the deals you close.
