A major client is seeking an experienced Facility Manager to oversee the operations of a mission-critical data center located in Madrid. A background in a transferrable sector is sufficient, no data center experience is necessarily required, although would be extremely helpful.

This is a senior management role that combines the technical oversight of the electrical, mechanical and cooling infrastructure with responsibility for service delivery, team management, client relations and financial performance.

You will lead a team of approximately 22 technical professionals, ensuring that the facilities operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with stringent service level agreements. The role offers the opportunity to lead a complex, mission-critical environment, influence operational strategy and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

- Lead and coordinate a team of approximately 22 technical professionals, including staff recruitment, induction, training and performance management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the data centre’s electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning and cooling systems
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities on low-voltage (LV), medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) systems, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, generators and critical cooling infrastructure
- Plan and coordinate technical interventions in a mission-critical environment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Manage operating budgets, service costs and profit and loss figures
- Maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring service quality,



customer satisfaction and compliance with contractual requirements
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs), producing reports and dashboards to track operational performance
- Manage incidents, escalations, emergency calls and critical operational procedures
- Ensure compliance with security standards, operational procedures and contractual obligations
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and maintenance processes
- Collaborate with internal departments to support business development and identify additional service opportunities

Required Skills

- Solid technical knowledge of MEP infrastructure, including electrical systems, mechanical installations, and heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) technologies
- Proven experience in managing technical teams and overseeing complex operations within facilities
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, operational procedures and the management of critical infrastructure
- Experience in managing client relationships, key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs) and service delivery
- Commercial acumen, including budget management and financial performance
- A degree in Industrial Engineering or a related technical discipline
- A minimum of 10 years’ demonstrable experience in facilities management, contract management or a senior operational role
- Experience in data centers, industrial facilities, pharmaceutical environments, hospitals or other mission-critical environments
- Previous experience in managing technical teams and in providing maintenance or engineering services
- Certifications from the Uptime Institute, such as AOS, ATS or ATD
- ITIL certification or equivalent operational training
- Familiarity with CMMS/GMAO systems, Power BI, AutoCAD and continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, 5S, SMED or Kaizen
- Fluent-level Spanish and a high level of English
