The Adventure Bakery is a media production company and movement-sports content agency. We were born in the mountains and grew into a movement-first perspective. Today we produce photo, video and social content for a range of brands, and we cover trail races, marathons, athletics competitions and more.
The role
We’re looking for a Social Media Manager who lives the sport. Not someone who just likes the aesthetic, but someone who knows why a sub-2:05 in Valencia makes headlines, or what a 3:30 split in a 1500m tells you before the bell lap.
You’ll manage social channels for brands, companies and events.
What you’ll do
- Plan and execute social media strategy for running, trail and track clients, with storytelling built on real sporting context: results, athletes, rivalries and race history.
- Manage real-time communication during competitions, from the studio or remotely: stories, reels and posts with accurate results, times, splits and athlete names.
- Work with the footage and photos coming in from the field: identify athletes, find the story and decide what we publish and how.
- Write copy that speaks the community’s language without mistakes: elevation gain, PBs, pacing, race formats, disciplines and qualifying standards.
- Run day-to-day operations: planning, publishing, community management and growth.
- Collaborate closely with our photo,
video and design team on integrated campaigns.
- Track, analyse and report on metrics to improve reach and engagement.
- Closely follow the sport’s calendar and news.
What we need (essential)
- Deep, up-to-date knowledge of running: trail, road and track.
- Active follow-up of the sport: results, athletes, teams, brands and the stories behind them.
- Proven experience managing social media for brands, events or athletes in sport, ideally running or athletics.
- Excellent written English. Catalan and/or Spanish are a strong plus.
Nice to have
- Hands-on knowledge of platform optimisation and analytics.
- Autonomy and the ability to work in a small, collaborative team.
- Availability to combine remote work with in-office days.
- Occasional weekend availability around key competitions.
- Photo and video editing skills.
Languages & location This role involves working closely with clients and communities in English, Catalan and Spanish, so we’re looking for someone comfortable in all three.
As the position combines remote work with in-office days, we’re focusing this search on candidates based in the Barcelona area (Catalonia). We truly appreciate the interest from further afield, but we’ll only be able to consider applications from within this region.
