Project description:

Research Assistant in the area of wireless communications and machine learning. In particular, the selected candidate will carry out research activities related to the objective of building a new AI/ML-driven radio interface. This new radio interface must learn to communicate by selecting and configuring the set of communication protocols and functionalities that best adapt to each particular use case and scenario, thus satisfying the previously mentioned performance requirements and efficiently using the available spectrum resources.

Main research field: Wireless Networks

Task to be performed:

The activities to be carried out are related to the research direction: “AI/ML-Native Wireless Communications”.

- Study of the state of the art in wireless networks (e.g., Wi-Fi) and machine learning.

- Development and implementation of machine learning algorithms.

- Development, implementation, and evaluation of communication functionalities incorporating machine learning mechanisms.





- Contribution to the preparation of project deliverables and scientific publications.

The duration of these tasks is estimated over a period of 10 months.

Group and complement: Group 2 + Level u

Dedication and working hours: part- time (27.5h/week)

Planned remuneration approx: 26.771,70€ gross per year

Qualifications

Requirements:

- Bachelor degree.

- High school-FP2.

The expected start date is from December 31, 2026, the job is in Barcelona.

Selection criteria: The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:

1- Academic Training (0-40 points).

- Degree and Master's degree in Engineering in areas related to artificial intelligence (computer science, mathematics, physics or similar). In case the candidate has not completed the master's studies,



it will be assessed whether he is doing the final master's thesis or similar, and its subject.

2- Other professional training and experience, adequacy to the proposed profile (0-40 points):

- Extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence in general, and reinforcement learning in particular.

- High level of programming in Matlab, Python and/or C.

- Experience in using simulation/experimentation for research in the area of reinforcement learning.

- Proven experience in performance evaluation techniques, analysis, simulation and experimentation.

3- Other merits (0-.20 points):

- Experience as a lead author or co-author in writing scientific papers in the field and research area relevant to this position.

- High level of English proficiency.

The minimum score to pass the selection process is 80 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job
