Senior Engineer StaticLocation: Madrid, SpainContract Type: ContractDuration: 7 monthsJob PurposeThe Mechanical Static Engineer is responsible for overseeing all engineering deliverables related to static mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping systems in offshore projects. This role ensures compliance with international codes and standards, manages vendor documentation, and supports the project lifecycle from design through to handover and startup.

Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and update mechanical equipment specifications and datasheets in line with the latest international design codes and standards.
Manage equipment packages, including reviewing and approving vendor documents and ensuring compliance with technical requirements.
Create and develop detailed designs for piping systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, API), and relevant regulations.
Ensure all documentation (material requisitions, calculations, drawings) is prepared correctly and follows discipline guidelines.
Review and approve engineering deliverables such as P&IDs;, data sheets, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, and instrument indexes.
Ensure that all piping designs and installations comply with relevant local and international codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, and prepare detailed engineering reports and documentation.
Review and monitor the work of EPC contractors, ensuring compliance with the scope of work and quality standards.
Lead and facilitate comprehensive hazard and risk assessments, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, FMEA, and Bow-tie analyses.
Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with internal and external standards and regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, API, NFPA).




Provide technical expertise and guidance during the design (FEED and detailed design) and operation of facilities, ensuring safety considerations and safety systems are properly integrated.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance with quality standards, track non-compliance issues, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Monitor and manage environmental aspects of the project, including waste management and pollution prevention, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and permits.
Act as the main interface between the Owner/Client, EPC contractor, vendors, and third parties.
Review and approve EPC contractor safety procedures, method statements, and testing protocols.
Identify commissioning risks and implement mitigation plans.
Enforce safe work practices during energization, first oil/gas, or equipment start-up.
Coordinate vendor site support, start-up specialists, and OEM representatives.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 12 years' experience with EPC phases: FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
At least 8 years' experience in the oil and gas industries.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a related designation or specialty.
Experience working on EPC and PMC phases of major capital projects.
Strong understanding of relevant international codes and standards, including ASME (Section VIII for pressure vessels), API (for tanks, heat exchangers), and TEMA standards for heat exchangers.
Proficiency in ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, and other international mechanical design codes.
Exceptional analytical skills for diagnosing complex issues, performing root cause analysis, evaluating solutions, and making data-driven decisions.
