Role overview

As eCommerce Manager, Technical Stream, you will lead the technical development, optimisation and integration of the Custom Booking Engine and checkout flow across Sani and Ikos. This is a product- and technology-led role focused on improving the technical performance, stability and capability of the booking journey, while working closely with internal stakeholders and external technology partners.

You will own the technical roadmap for the booking engine, including enhancement delivery, A/B testing, AI-enabled initiatives, payment technology and system integrations. You will also manage the Technical Stream Specialist on a day-to-day basis.

Key responsibilities

Custom Booking Engine development and maintenance:

- Own the technical backlog for the Custom Booking Engine, prioritising development, enhancement cycles, quality assurance, testing and ongoing maintenance.
- Act as the primary point of contact with booking engine technology partners on roadmap, capability and technical delivery.
- Ensure the booking engine architecture supports commercial requirements from Revenue Management, Distribution and the Commercial Stream.

A/B testing and performance analytics:
- Design, run and analyse A/B tests across the booking engine and checkout flow, translating findings into prioritised development briefs.
- Maintain detailed performance analytics at booking engine level, including conversion, checkout completion, session behaviour and error rates.
- Produce regular technical performance reporting for the Senior Manager, clearly separating booking engine performance from the broader funnel and revenue metrics owned by Marketing.

AI initiatives:
- Evaluate and pilot AI-powered enhancements within the booking engine and checkout journey, such as personalised upsell prompts or intelligent error recovery, in collaboration with Commercial Systems and technology partners.

- Coordinate with Marketing on any AI initiative that touches booking assistants, concierge solutions or customer journey personalisation, as these areas sit outside this role’s remit.

Payments and system integrations:
- Own the technical configuration and evaluation of new payment methods, wallets and buy now pay later options within the booking engine, from an integration and conversion feasibility perspective.
- Lead system integrations affecting the booking engine, including loyalty and CRM platforms, coordinating with Commercial Systems on the underlying data and configuration layer.

Booking funnel friction point optimisation:
- Identify technical and user experience friction points across the booking funnel, such as checkout drop-off, page load performance and error states, and prioritise fixes within the booking engine.
- Monitor the technical health of the booking funnel on an ongoing basis, escalating structural issues that require Commercial Systems or technology partner involvement.
- Focus on booking engine technical performance, while overall funnel conversion and revenue contribution remain reported by Marketing.

Team coordination:
- Manage the Technical Stream Specialist, allocating workload across testing, monitoring and technical support tasks.

Required qualifications and experience

- 4 to 5 years of experience in eCommerce technology, product management or booking engine platforms, ideally within hospitality or travel.
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing tools, web analytics platforms and payment gateway integrations.

- Working understanding of API-based system integrations, such as loyalty and CRM, and confidence evaluating AI-powered product features.
- Proven ability to manage a technical backlog and coordinate with development teams and external technology partners.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into a prioritised development roadmap.
- English proficiency required; additional languages are an advantage.

Desired skills and competencies

- Structured, detail-oriented and comfortable working across multiple technical workstreams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align commercial, operational and technical teams.
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset and a genuine interest in digital hospitality experiences.
- Ability to balance hands-on delivery with longer-term roadmap planning.

At Sani/Ikos Group, you will join a people-focused organisation that values development, collaboration and excellence. You can expect:
