Position Summary The Land Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to land identification, assessment, documentation, and development activities for IREN’s data center portfolio by analysing site information, cadastral data, land constraints, mapping inputs, access conditions, and due diligence materials required to evaluate and progress land opportunities for large-scale, power-connected AI and HPC infrastructure projects.
This role contributes to IREN’s growth by ensuring that land-related technical information is accurate, structured, and available to support land acquisition, permitting, engineering, grid connection, construction planning, and operational readiness across IREN’s expanding renewable-powered data center pipeline.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Land Manager, the Land Specialist is responsible for:
· Analyse land opportunities by reviewing cadastral data, ownership information, maps, planning references, access conditions, land use constraints, environmental inputs, and technical documentation to support site screening and feasibility assessment.
· Prepare and maintain technical land documentation by compiling plans, maps, site summaries, parcel information, constraint matrices, due diligence checklists, and supporting materials required by land, development, engineering, connection, and permitting teams.
· Support field and desktop due diligence by coordinating information on boundaries, easements, rights of way, access routes, topography, nearby infrastructure, utilities, planning restrictions, and other factors that may affect data center development viability.
· Coordinate with external surveyors, technical consultants, advisors, landowners, public authorities, and internal stakeholders to obtain, validate,
and update land-related technical information in line with project needs and timelines.
· Maintain cadastral and project tracking information by updating databases, folders, registers, drawings, and trackers to ensure that land status, constraints, risks, and next steps are visible and reliable across the portfolio.
· Assist in identifying land-related risks by reviewing technical inputs, legal documentation, planning information, grid connection interfaces, access dependencies,
and site constraints, escalating issues that may affect acquisition, permitting, design, or construction.
· Support preparation of internal reports and decision materials by providing accurate technical land data, maps, status updates, constraint summaries, and recommendations that enable informed project and investment decisions.
· Contribute to continuous improvement of land technical processes by standardising mapping outputs, data collection methods, due diligence templates, documentation practices, and lessons learned across IREN’s land development portfolio.
Requirements
· Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in land, real estate, urban planning, surveying, GIS, permitting, infrastructure development, renewable energy, utilities, data centers, or related technical project environments.
· Qualification in surveying, geography, urban planning, civil engineering, environmental studies, geomatics, land management, real estate, or a related technical discipline is desirable.
· Good understanding of cadastral information, land boundaries, ownership records, maps, easements, access rights, land use constraints, planning references, permitting inputs, and basic infrastructure development requirements.
· Experience preparing or reviewing land-related technical documentation, site summaries, mapping outputs, due diligence checklists, trackers, reports, and structured project records.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office tools and GIS, cadastral, mapping, document management, or project tracking platforms; experience with CAD or geospatial data tools is desirable.
· Ability to coordinate information with surveyors, consultants, public authorities, landowners, legal, development, engineering, connection, permitting, and construction stakeholders in a clear and organised manner.
· Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, documentation discipline, prioritisation, follow-up, communication skills, and ability to identify inconsistencies, missing information, deadlines, and technical risks.
· Fluent English is required. High level of accountability, collaboration, adaptability, curiosity, discretion, service orientation, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international infrastructure development environment.
Compensation
· Compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and market data for the region.
