Are you a hands-on backend engineer who loves building systems that scale?

Do you enjoy owning architecture end-to-end while still writing production code every day?

We’re partnering with a fast-growing, VC-backed fintech on a mission to improve people’s financial well-being. Since launching recently, they’ve already scaled to hundreds of thousands of users and processed over €1B in transactions — and they’re just getting started.

The Role

This is a Staff-level, highly hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, and scaling backend systems in a modern, event-driven environment.

You’ll play a key role in shaping architecture, solving complex problems, and raising the technical bar across the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Designing and scaling backend systems using Python/Django
- Owning architecture in a microservices + event-driven environment
- Working closely with infrastructure and security teams (AWS)
- Taking systems from design → production → scale




- Leveraging AI tools to improve development speed and quality
- Mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering excellence

Tech Stack

Python, Django, AWS, Docker, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, MondoDB and Datadog

What We’re Looking For

- 10+ years of backend engineering experience
- Strong expertise in Python & Django
- Proven track record scaling systems in startups or scale-ups
- Experience with AWS and containerized environments
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and performance optimisation
- Ability to debug complex production issues
- Focus on performance, reliability, xhfqzwm and cost-efficiency
- Strong communication skills (English)
- Pragmatic, humble, and impact-driven mindset
