Help industrial clients improve their energy performance
Are you an Energy Engineer with experience in industrial energy audits, energy assessments, energy balances and energy efficiency? At Group IPS, we are looking for a Junior or Intermediate Energy Engineer to assess industrial facilities, identify energy-saving opportunities and develop practical engineering solutions for our clients.
Based in Madrid, you will analyse energy consumption, equipment performance, industrial processes and utility systems. Your work will contribute to energy optimisation, heat recovery and industrial decarbonisation, helping clients select technically sound and economically viable improvements.
You will contribute to site assessments, technical analysis, energy balance calculations and feasibility studies, with responsibilities adapted to your experience. Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and technology providers, you will also support the implementation of selected solutions where required.
This is an office-based position in Madrid, requiring regular attendance at the office and availability for national and international travel up to 30% of your annual working time.
What you’ll do
As an Energy Engineer, you will:
- Carry out industrial energy assessments, including site visits, technical data collection and reviews of operating conditions.
- Prepare and analyse energy balances to understand how energy is generated, distributed and consumed across industrial facilities.
- Evaluate consumption patterns, operating parameters and equipment performance to identify inefficiencies and energy losses.
- Assess industrial processes and utility systems against operational needs.
- Identify improvement opportunities, including operational adjustments, heat recovery, equipment upgrades and alternative energy technologies.
- Assess the technical feasibility, expected energy savings, investment costs and financial return of proposed measures.
- Prepare technical reports with clear findings, calculations and prioritised recommendations.
- Collaborate with clients, engineering teams and suppliers to evaluate suitable technical solutions.
- Support the engineering, implementation and performance verification of approved improvements, depending on project scope and your experience.
- Contribute technical input to proposals for industrial energy and sustainability services.
The projects you’ll contribute to
You will help industrial clients evaluate and improve existing facilities through:
- Industrial energy audits and energy performance assessments.
- Energy balances for production processes and utility systems.
- Assessments of thermal and electrical installations, including heating, cooling, steam and compressed air systems.
- Heat recovery and energy efficiency studies.
- Optimisation or replacement of energy-intensive equipment.
- Evaluation of electrification, alternative energy sources and on-site generation.
- Technical and economic feasibility studies for energy efficiency and decarbonisation investments.
What you’ll bring
Essential
- A degree in Energy, Industrial, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Previous practical experience contributing to energy audits or energy assessments in industrial environments.
- Experience preparing energy balances and analysing energy consumption data.
- An understanding of industrial processes, equipment and utility systems.
- The ability to contribute to the identification and technical evaluation of energy efficiency measures.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate findings through clear technical reports.
- Professional working proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Availability to work on site at our Madrid office.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally up to 30% of your annual working time.
We welcome junior candidates with relevant hands-on experience and intermediate profiles with approximately 2–4 years of experience. Your responsibilities and level of autonomy will reflect your background.
Highly valued
- Experience evaluating investment costs, energy savings and payback periods.
- Exposure to the implementation of energy efficiency measures or verification of achieved savings.
- Knowledge of thermal systems, heat recovery, compressed air, steam or other industrial utilities.
- Experience working with equipment suppliers and technology providers.
- Familiarity with industrial decarbonisation,
electrification or renewable energy integration.
- Professional working proficiency in French or German.
What will help you succeed
You are curious about how industrial facilities operate and comfortable combining technical calculations with observations from site visits.
You bring
- An analytical and structured approach to solving engineering problems.
- Attention to data quality and the assumptions behind your calculations.
- The ability to connect energy performance with operational requirements.
- Clear communication with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
- Initiative, teamwork and a willingness to develop your technical expertise.
