Outdoor Bengal
España
100% Remote (Spain) | Full-Time | €38,000–€50,000 gross/year
At OutdoorBengal, we're challenging the traditional pet industry by creating products that help cats live healthier, happier, more enriched lives.
From escape-resistant harnesses to innovative travel backpacks, carriers, and enrichment products, we combine thoughtful design, functionality, and a deep understanding of feline behavior to create solutions that make a real difference.
We're a growing international brand with ambitious plans to expand our product portfolio, and we're looking for an exceptional Senior Industrial Designer to help bring our next generation of products to life.
You'll have the opportunity to shape real products, collaborate directly with manufacturers, and see your work reach customers around the world.
If you're passionate about physical product design, love solving technical challenges, and take pride in seeing your ideas become exceptional finished products, we want to meet you.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a hands-on Industrial Designer who combines creativity with technical expertise and a strong understanding of how physical products are manufactured.
You'll take ideas from early concepts through design, prototyping, testing, and production-ready specifications, working closely with our team and international manufacturing partners.
Our ideal candidate has significant experience with soft goods, particularly backpacks, bags, technical textiles, outdoor equipment, or wearable accessories.
You'll have substantial ownership over your projects, the freedom to propose innovative solutions, and the responsibility to ensure your designs are functional, manufacturable, and commercially viable.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Product Design & Innovation
- Develop innovative physical products from initial concepts through production-ready designs.
- Create sketches, 3D models, CAD files, technical drawings, and product visualizations.
- Balance functionality, ergonomics, aesthetics, durability, safety, and manufacturing costs.
- Design products that consider both feline comfort and human usability.
- Research materials, construction techniques, components, and emerging product innovations.
Prototyping & Product Development
- Develop and coordinate prototypes, evaluate physical samples, and refine designs through iterative testing.
- Prepare comprehensive tech packs, technical specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
- Apply design-for-manufacturing principles to ensure products can be efficiently produced at scale.
- Identify potential design weaknesses and proactively develop practical solutions.
- Evaluate materials, stitching patterns, reinforcements, hardware, and construction methods.
- Maintain detailed documentation and manage design revisions throughout development.
Manufacturing Collaboration
- Work directly with international manufacturing partners to translate designs into finished products.
- Communicate technical requirements clearly and troubleshoot manufacturing challenges.
- Review and evaluate pre-production samples for quality, functionality, and consistency.
- Collaborate on material and component selection to optimize performance, quality, and cost.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Must Haves
- 5+ years of experience in industrial design or physical product development, with a strong portfolio of products brought to market.
- Hands-on experience designing soft goods (backpacks, bags, outdoor gear, harnesses, or similar products).
- Strong understanding of materials, pattern construction, stitching, hardware, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in CAD/design software, prototyping, and creating manufacturer-ready technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage projects independently.
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing outdoor equipment, travel gear, or pet products.
- Experience working with international manufacturers, particularly in China or Vietnam.
- Knowledge of product testing, injection molding, 3D printing, or other manufacturing techniques.
A degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, or a related field is welcome, but your portfolio, technical expertise, and ability to turn ideas into successful physical products matter more than formal qualifications.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Can turn a product brief into a clear, practical, and manufacturable design (Tech Pack)
- Understand how products are actually constructed, not just how they look on screen.
- Anticipate manufacturing challenges before they become costly problems.
- Deliver accurate, production-ready designs with minimal supervision.
- Balance creative ambition with practical manufacturing constraints and target costs.
- Obsess over the details, from the positioning of a strap to the feel of a buckle.
- Take genuine ownership of your projects and continuously look for opportunities to improve them.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just design beautiful products, but understands how to make them work exceptionally well in the real world.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive salary: €38,000–€50,000 gross annually, depending on experience and demonstrated capabilities.
- 100% remote: Work from anywhere in Spain.
- Adaptable working hours: Organize your schedule around deliverables and agreed collaboration times.
- Paid time off: Annual leave in accordance with Spanish employment law and any applicable collective agreement, including at least 30 calendar days of paid annual leave, plus applicable public holidays.
- Real product ownership: Take responsibility for the development of products from initial concept through manufacturing.
- Creative freedom: Bring your own ideas, challenge existing approaches, and influence our product roadmap.
- Direct impact: See your designs become real products used by customers around the world.
- Professional growth: Opportunities to expand your responsibilities as our business and product portfolio grow.
- Long-term opportunity: Join a growing international brand looking to build a lasting relationship with talented professionals.
HOW TO APPLY
We're especially interested in understanding what you've designed, how you've developed it, and what you've successfully brought into production.
Please include the following in your application:
1. A short introduction: In 2–3 sentences, explain why you're interested in OutdoorBengal and why you believe you're a strong fit for this position.
2. Your portfolio: Share 2–3 relevant physical product projects, ideally including backpacks, bags, outdoor equipment, or technical textile products. Show us your design process, technical development, prototypes, and final outcomes. Clearly identify your individual contributions.
3. Your soft-goods experience: Describe your hands-on experience with soft-goods design, including patterning, textile selection, construction methods, stitching, hardware, and manufacturability.
4. Your experience bringing products to market: Tell us about a product you helped develop from concept through manufacturing. What were the biggest technical challenges, and how did you solve them?
Share your location in Spain, earliest possible start date, and salary expectations.
A portfolio demonstrating relevant physical product development experience is required.
We value practical expertise, creative problem-solving, and genuine ownership. Applications demonstrating these qualities will receive priority consideration.
