No Offer Description Thesis Title: "Lucha de Bandos" and Private Warfare in Northwestern Navarre and the Continental Basque Territories (14th–15th Centuries) The objective of this research is to conduct a systematic analysis of factional conflicts and private warfare taking place in northwestern Navarre, Labourd, Basse Navarre, and Soule.



The candidate must provide a detailed state-of-the-art review regarding both factional conflict in the Basque region and private warfare in Western Europe, while analyzing narrative sources as well as private and unpublished documentary sources. They will compile a database to link events and participating families, establish a chronology, and discern the ties that either united or pitted these families against one another. The study will also incorporate the relationships between the key figures and both the peasantry and urban areas. Master's degree or other degree that grants admission to a doctoral program.
