"Own every booking-platform integration end to end, so that every price Walkway sets lands in the right place, on every channel, every time."
About Walkway
Walkway helps tour, activity and attraction operators grow revenue through dynamic pricing and competitive intelligence. We combine competitor data, booking patterns, seasonal trends and demand signals into pricing recommendations, and push them straight into the operator's booking system. From there they flow to the operator's website and to the marketplaces that resell their tickets. Operators stay in control: they review every change, or flip on Auto Pilot and let it run.
Walkway has already powered more than 10 million live operator prices and $40 million in gross booking value. Our team brings experience from Airbnb, Viator, Regiondo and KAYAK.
About the role
We're integrated with Ventrata, Bokun, Xola and Prioticket, and more are on the way. Each one has its own API, its own data model and its own partner team, and this industry has no real standard for pushing prices. Some of these capabilities we've built hand in hand with the partner's engineers.
As we add integrations and onboard more operators, connectivity deserves a dedicated owner. We're hiring a Senior Integrations Engineer: a backend engineer who knows every integration inside out, owns it end to end, and makes it the strongest part of our product. You'll report to our Lead Software Engineer and work daily with customer success.
Walkway is a US company, so this is a full-time role under a contractor agreement. You're based in Europe, ideally in Spain, Portugal or Italy, where most of the team is, and you work European hours.
What you'll do
1) Integrations and connectivity
- Own every integration end to end: price push, booking and availability ingestion, and propagation to resellers and marketplaces.
- Design resilient adapters: retries and backoff, idempotency, rate limits, versioned contracts and data quality checks.
- Scope and build new integrations, from the partner's API docs to the first operator on Auto Pilot.
2) Onboarding and customer success
- Join new customer setups with customer success, make sure every product is configured right, and verify the first prices on the booking system, the operator's website and the marketplaces before Auto Pilot goes on.
- Be the technical point of contact for customer success on anything integration-related. Get to the root cause fast, wherever it sits, and close the loop.
- Write a runbook for each partner, so customer success and the rest of the team handle the common cases on their own.
3) Reliability and observability
- Monitoring and alerting across every integration: what we pushed, what landed, on which channel.
- Partners and marketplaces don't stop on weekends, so occasional on-call comes with the job.
4) Partners and roadmap
- Be the technical counterpart for our partners' product and engineering teams. When they ship changes, we're ready. When we need something from them, you go and get it. We don't sit and wait for partners, so a bit of pushiness is part of the job.
- Own the integration roadmap: what's coming on each partner's side, and what the rest of the company can count on.
Our stack (you don't need all of it)
- TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS
- Postgres (Cloud SQL), Prisma
- GCP: Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Cloud Scheduler; BigQuery
- GitHub Actions, Sentry, Linear
Requirements
- 6+ years building production backend software,
including 3+ years building or running integrations with external platforms: booking systems, channel managers, payments, travel or hospitality distribution, or marketplaces.
- Expert in Node.js/TypeScript and a framework such as NestJS; strong SQL and Postgres fundamentals.
- Deep API experience: REST, webhooks, OAuth and API keys, pagination, idempotency, versioning.
- At home across company boundaries: you read someone else's API docs and logs alongside ours, and you can trace exactly what happened to a price on its way from our system to the guest.
- An excellent communicator in English. Comfortable on a call with a partner's CTO and with a tour operator who isn't technical. You write the update before anyone asks for it.
- You genuinely enjoy integration work. It's the job, not a stepping stone. If you'd rather be building product features, this isn't the role, and that's fine.
- AI-native in how you work. At our size that's not optional.
Nice to have
- Experience with tours and activities booking software (Ventrata, Bokun, Xola, Prioticket, FareHarbor, Rezdy...) or with Viator or GetYourGuide supplier APIs.
- OCTO, the open standard for tours and activities connectivity.
- A customer-facing technical role in your past: solutions engineering, implementation, technical account management.
- Spanish, Portuguese or Italian.
Why join Walkway
- Own the connectivity layer of an award-winning AI pricing product used by operators around the world.
- Work directly with the platforms shaping travel connectivity.
- Ship quickly with a pragmatic, low-ego team, and see your work reach production, and operators, fast.
- Fully remote, with in-person team gatherings during the year, travel covered.
