Senior Backend Engineer (Java / AI Integration)

Location: Barcelona, Spain (Hybrid Model: 3 days in-office / 2 days remote)

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain highly scalable REST APIs and microservices for our Content Services platforms.
- Develop and deploy robust cloud-based applications and event-driven architectures utilizing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kafka.
- Integrate existing enterprise platforms with cutting-edge LLM/AI-based applications and machine translation services for multilingual content processing.
- Ensure system reliability and code quality through automated testing, proactive monitoring, and comprehensive production support.
- Actively participate in the full software development lifecycle within an Agile environment, including Git version control, CI/CD pipeline management, and peer code reviews.

Must-have Skills





- 5+ years of professional experience in application development with a strong focus on Java and Spring Boot (Primary Skill).
- Advanced English level (C1/C2) with excellent technical and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven expertise in designing and integrating REST APIs and microservices.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based application development (GCP preferred) and event-driven architectures (Kafka).
- Solid foundation in modern software development practices (Git, CI/CD, automated testing, Agile methodologies).

Nice-to-have:

- AI Tooling Proficiency: Leverage one or more AI tools to optimize and augment day-to-day work, including drafting, analysis, research, or process automation. Provide recommendations on effective AI use and identify opportunities to streamline workflows.
- Novice to intermediate familiarity with LLM/AI-based applications and building/consuming AI APIs.
- Experience building solutions for content-management, digital publishing, or media platforms.
- Background in handling machine translation pipelines or large-scale multilingual content processing.
