English
This organisation is developing
advanced propulsion systems
for space applications and is looking for a
hands-on engineer
to take ownership of a
critical fluidics subsystem.
This role focuses on precision engineering in challenging environments, working with liquid propellants and vacuum systems to support real spaceflight applications.
The role will involve:
Owning the development of a propellant management subsystem,
driving it from design refinement through to production readiness
Leading mechanical and functional improvements,
with a focus on
reliability and scalability
Designing and qualifying in-vacuum propellant filling processes,
including
contamination control
and
calibration procedures
Characterising system performance,
including flow delivery, pressure stability, gas behaviour and fill accuracy
Creating and maintaining detailed
test procedures, assembly documentation and qualification reports
Collaborating closely with propulsion, electronics and testing teams
during integration and validation campaigns
Supporting supplier engagement
and contributing to make-vs-buy decisions
Contributing to vacuum chamber redesign
and
development activities
Key requirements:
Background in
vacuum systems, precision fluidics, analytical instrumentation, or a related engineering discipline
(industry or research)2-4 years hands-on engineering experience,
ideally in a lab, R&D; or production environment
Experience working with
sensitive or reactive liquids (e.G. hygroscopic, conductive, or corrosive fluids) Familiarity with
vacuum systems,
including pumping equipment, low-pressure measurement, leak detection and outgassing behaviour
Experience
designing or assembling sealed mechanical systems
(e.G. fittings, seals, polymer-to-metal interfaces) Broad engineering fundamentals with a
solid understanding of physics principles
Comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team with evolving responsibilities
Experience with
mechanical CAD tools (e.G. Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar) Exposure to areas such as
ionic liquids, electrochemical systems, or space environmental standards
(e.G. thermal vacuum, outgassing) is desirable
Familiarity with
pressure systems, pneumatic testing, microfluidics, MEMS, or similar technologies
This is a
highly practical, hands-on role
offering the opportunity to take real ownership of a critical subsystem and directly influence the development of
next-generation propulsion technology.
