We are looking for a practising in-house lawyer who can take responsibility for proceedings, prepare strong written submissions and confidently attend hearings and trials. This is a hands-on legal role within a technology-driven business: practical litigation skills, sound judgement and the ability to learn and improve working methods matter.
Location and conditions
Permanent contract. 100% on-site at Torre Iberdrola, Plaza de Euskadi 5, 48009 Bilbao. Working hours will be discussed individually. Gross annual salary: EUR 36,000-46,000. Travel to Madrid or Barcelona will be required when necessary for hearings and proceedings.
Your responsibilities
Manage civil and commercial proceedings, including debt recovery and financial claims: analyse files, develop case strategy, prepare pleadings and evidence, and monitor procedural deadlines.
Personally attend and conduct the company's legal defence at hearings and trials. Prepare oral arguments, examine the relevant evidence and follow cases through their procedural stages.
Draft, review and negotiate contracts, identify business risks and provide clear, practical advice to company teams.
Manage legal and procedural documentation, including dealings with the Bar Association and public bodies, and coordinate with procuradores and external counsel where applicable.
Use Claude Code or OpenAI Codex to improve document workflows, organise case material and automate repeatable tasks, while independently verifying facts, sources, citations and legal conclusions.
Essential requirements
Law degree and active registration as a practising lawyer with a Spanish Bar Association.
At least 3 years of relevant legal experience, with demonstrable civil/commercial procedural knowledge and personal involvement in hearings or trials. Be ready to explain what you actually did, not only the matters your team handled.
Experience in contract drafting and litigation, with the organisation and professional judgement needed to manage several files and deadlines.
Current, practical ability to use Claude Code or OpenAI Codex. This is fundamental across our company; general familiarity with chatbots alone is not sufficient. You must be able to explain a real workflow, how you checked the output and how you protected confidential information.
English at C1 level or equivalent, which will be assessed.
Willingness to learn, adapt to the company's working methods, collaborate and use feedback constructively while maintaining independent professional judgement.
Tools and practical workflows
Prepare clear pleadings and contracts in Word: styles, numbering, tracked changes and document comparison.
Organise searchable PDFs, OCR, bookmarks, evidence indexes, chronologies and hearing/trial bundles. Keep a reliable calendar of deadlines and notifications.
Work with electronic filing and notification systems, including LexNET where applicable, and research legislation and case law in official sources such as BOE and CENDOJ.
Use additional legal-research and AI tools where useful, not as a substitute for professional judgement. Verify every citation, quotation, date and conclusion against its source, preserve traceability and protect confidential and privileged information.
Strong advantages
Professional German and/or French; additional working languages are also valued. Please state your presente level and professional use.
Experience with international contracts, cross-border disputes or in-house legal work.
Knowledge of the technology or telecommunications sector.
You will combine courtroom work with direct involvement in business decisions and the improvement of legal workflows. In your application, use anonymised examples and do not disclose client identities or confidential case materials.
