We are a fast-growing startup within an international trading group, expanding our presence in Europe through the opening of a new office in Barcelona (Catalonia).
We are looking for a proactive and experienced
Purchasing Manager
who will become a key independent figure responsible for establishing and developing the company’s procurement processes. This is a unique opportunity to build an efficient procurement system from scratch in an international environment and play a critical role in the company’s growth and scaling in Spain.
Key Responsibilities
Negotiation & Contracting
- Conduct negotiations on pricing, volumes, and supply terms for raw materials and finished products
- Align product specifications (varieties, acidity levels, organoleptic characteristics, etc.)
- Conclude contracts and framework agreements with suppliers
Shipment & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate shipments (interaction with suppliers and logistics partners)
- Monitor timelines, volumes,
and accuracy of dispatched goods
- Prepare supporting documentation in collaboration with the back office
On-site Quality Control
- Organize and/or conduct quality inspections at supplier facilities
- Collect samples and coordinate with laboratories
- Ensure compliance of products with agreed standards and specifications
Internal Collaboration
- Provide market insights, risks, and opportunities
- Support procurement and production planning
Requirements
Education
- Higher education in agriculture, food industry, logistics, or economics
Work Experience
- Minimum
5 years of experience
in procurement of agricultural products/raw materials in Spain
- Proven hands-on experience in:
- Negotiating with local producers
- Working with farmers or processing companies
- Experience with
olives and/or olive oil
