About Seventh Wave
Seventh Wave is part of Adevinta, one of the world’s leading online classifieds groups. We’re a small, exceptionally talented team at the frontier of AI deployment, pushing the boundaries of how classifieds businesses operate at scale. We build, shape, and run these businesses end-to-end, driven by an owner-founder mindset from day one. Joining us now means joining early and having a direct hand in shaping our growth journey.
Across Adevinta, our marketplaces reach more than 100 million users every month. Backed by an investor consortium including Blackstone, Permira and General Atlantic, the group brings together leading marketplaces such as mobile.de and Kleinanzeigen in Germany, leboncoin in France, Marktplaats in the Netherlands, Subito in Italy and Kijiji in Canada.
Why join us
We are building a small team of exceptional people early in their careers who want to build, take responsibility and grow with the business.
Own commercial initiatives from the start. Take responsibility for a commercial initiative, from defining the approach to putting it into practice. You'll make decisions with local teams, lead implementation and be accountable for the results.
Learn directly from experienced business leaders. Work directly with marketplace executives and experienced operators as you help shape decisions and carry them through. Their guidance and regular feedback will help you develop the judgement and practical skills to run a business.
Grow towards business leadership. We want to develop future leaders for our marketplaces. Strong performance can lead to rapid progression, with opportunities to run a larger commercial area, lead a team or take on a leadership role within a marketplace.
Put AI to work at marketplace scale. Use AI to create new customer experiences, improve growth campaigns and redesign commercial workflows. You'll have room to test ideas in live marketplaces, measure their impact and scale what works.
Build repeatable capabilities. Turn what works in our starting markets into playbooks and shared capabilities that other marketplaces can use. You'll work with teams across countries to adapt and implement them, extending the impact of your work across the group.
Help build Seventh Wave from the start. Help shape the team and ways of working as we build Seventh Wave from the ground up. You'll have the autonomy to put your ideas into practice,
with the backing of an established group.
Job Requirements
About you
- Commercial reasoning. You turn commercial ambitions into clear technical problems and work out which data, models or tools would make them achievable. You challenge assumptions and connect technical choices to business outcomes.
- Strong technical foundations. You work confidently in SQL and either Python or R, with a solid grasp of statistics and applied modelling. You write clear, reproducible work and know how to validate both your data and your models.
- Drive and ownership. You set yourself demanding goals and take responsibility for building things people use. You follow through on quality, adoption and improvement after launch.
- Curiosity and scientific judgement. You learn new methods quickly and experiment with AI to improve analysis and development. You test assumptions carefully and change course when the evidence calls for it.
- Teamwork and communication. You explain technical choices and trade-offs clearly in fluent English, and work effectively with commercial and engineering colleagues. You share knowledge, welcome challenge and help others improve their work.
- Relevant experience. You bring 2–3 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering, ideally in a start-up or scale-up. You’ve built and maintained production data pipelines, designed reliable data models and translated business needs into data capabilities used by commercial and product teams.
Job Responsibilities
Our commercial transformation depends on a reliable data foundation. You'll build the pipelines, datasets and integrations behind our commercial tools and help scale them across our marketplaces.
- Build reliable data foundations. Design and build pipelines and data models that bring together product, customer and commercial data for use across teams and systems.
- Define what we need to build. Work with the commercial transformation team and local leaders to define the data, tracking and integrations needed to deliver their priorities,
then decide what to build first.
- Make the data dependable. Put consistent tracking, shared definitions, data quality checks and monitoring in place with local analysts and engineers, so teams can trust the data they use.
- Enable commercial data products. Build the datasets and integrations behind capabilities such as audience targeting, pricing tools and marketing attribution, and connect them to the systems teams use.
- Automate commercial steering. Build tools that connect commercial results to the inputs teams can influence and flag where action is needed. Use AI and automation to surface opportunities by category, region and user segment.
- Scale across marketplaces. Build reusable pipelines, data models and integrations with engineers, adapt them to local markets and help teams put them into everyday use.
