Associate Practice Manager – Technology Consulting

Hybrid Working | Approx. 2 days per week in the office

About us

TEKsystems Integral Services (TGS) partners with organisations to deliver business transformation through technology. Our teams bring together expertise across Cloud, Data & AI, Software Engineering, Product, Quality Engineering, DevOps and Digital Transformation. As our technology consulting practice in Spain continues to grow, we are looking for an Associate Practice Manager to join our Madrid team and work closely with our existing Practice Manager to support our growing engineering population.

Why this role is interesting

- This is a great opportunity for someone who has built their career in technology, engineering or technical leadership, has already started leading and developing people, and now wants to take the next step into broader people and practice leadership.
- We are not necessarily looking for someone who is already an experienced Practice Manager. What matters is that you understand technology, can build credibility with engineers and have genuine experience supporting and developing people.
- This role gives you the opportunity to broaden your career beyond purely technical leadership without leaving technology behind. You’ll remain closely connected to engineering teams while developing broader experience across people leadership, career development, performance management, workforce planning, hiring, deployment, utilisation and practice operations.

What you’ll be doing

Working closely with our Senior Practice Manager for Spain,

you’ll help support an engineering population of approximately 30-35 people across different technology disciplines.

You’ll gradually take greater ownership across:

- Regular 1:1s, coaching and career-development conversations
- Individual Development Plans, skills development and certifications
- Employee engagement and performance-management activities
- Workforce planning, utilisation and bench management
- Supporting deployment and matching engineers to upcoming opportunities
- Interviewing and helping select new technical talent
- Working across Practice, Sales, Solutions, Recruitment and Delivery
- Maintaining accurate workforce information and practice reporting
- Supporting the continued growth of the Spanish technology practice

You’ll ideally bring

- A genuine technology or engineering background
- Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Team Lead, Technology Lead, Engineering Lead or similar
- Experience leading, coaching and developing people
- Confidence conducting 1:1s and career-development conversations
- Enough technical credibility to communicate effectively with experienced engineers
- An understanding of different technical career paths and engineering environments
- Strong communication, relationship-building and organisational skills
- The ability to work across multiple teams and priorities

- Continued curiosity around technology, including developments such as AI and LLMs
- Fluent Spanish and strong English communication skills

Your technical background could be in Cloud, Software Engineering, Data, Full-Stack, Infrastructure, Platform Engineering or another technology discipline.

Nice to have

- Exposure to workforce planning, resource deployment or utilisation
- Experience interviewing or hiring technical professionals
- Understanding of consulting or professional-services environments
- Commercial awareness around areas such as rates, margin, GP or utilisation
- Experience with tools such as Excel, Power BI or ServiceNow

What will make you successful

- You genuinely enjoy developing people
- You can build trust and credibility with technical professionals
- You want to remain connected to technology while moving further into leadership
- You’re comfortable balancing people, operational and business priorities
- You can work collaboratively across different teams and stakeholders
- You’re curious, organised and comfortable taking greater ownership as you grow into the role

What you’ll gain

You’ll work closely with an established Practice Manager, gaining broader experience across people leadership, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, deployment, utilisation, commercial awareness and practice operations while remaining connected to technology. Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into broader practice leadership within an international technology organisation.
