My client is a leading European streaming platform whose TV app is used by millions of viewers across set-top boxes and Smart TVs. They're scaling the TV app team ahead of a major platform release and need an experienced Lightning JS developer to join an established squad of engineers.
The project
You'll work on the next generation of their big-screen app. That means building new features, improving navigation and playback, and getting the app performing well across a range of devices with different hardware limits.
What you'll be doing
- Building and maintaining UI components in Lightning JS
- Optimising rendering, memory, and load times on low-powered devices
- Integrating video playback, DRM, and backend APIs
- Working closely with design, QA, and device teams in two-week sprints
- Contributing to code reviews and shared component libraries
Essential
- Production experience with Lightning JS (L2 or L3)
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript
- Experience building for set-top boxes, RDK, or Smart TVs
- A track record of performance tuning on constrained hardware
Nice to have
- Shaka Player, hls.js, or dash.js
- DRM (Widevine, PlayReady)
- SolidJS/Blits on Lightning 3
- Tizen, webOS, or Android TV
